Where do I start?
For those of you that know me well, you already know that this has been the "E Ticket Ride" of my life. I figure Disneyland will never be able to create an attraction to compare to my life this year - but if they could, I don't think I would want to ride it.
January 18 - began a 7 months stint receiving Chemotherapy @ City of Hope
February - chemo halted for a week because of horrible reaction to Nupregin (sp?) - switched to Neulasta
February - threw up in the car for the first time due to motion sickness spurred by chemotherapy
March 2 - wife and I go to Disneyland to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. Lunched at Blue Bayou.....got on Big Thunder and Space Mountain - had to leave because of intense nausea from Chemo - spent time in bathroom too in regard - not fun.
May 4 - hospitalized @ City of Hope for a week due to contracting PCP Pnuemonia
May - oddly enough, still enduring chemo, but my hair begins growing back.
May 19 - my sister is married in Laguna Beach, CA - glad hair is coming back, as I am a Groomsman and didn't want to look like a 'hairless peanut head' up in the wedding party.
July - due to extreme financial strain brought on by my cancer, we moved in with my parents until things ease
July 6 - my final Chemotherapy
July 9 - begin my trek to lose the 15 lbs I gained (yes - GAINED) during Chemo - and then maybe another 20 if I can.
July 20 - wife and I went to celebrate the anniversary of our first date by having lunch and watching "Hairspray" which released that day.
July 23 - I got my first haircut today - since hair began growing in!
August - daily radiation therapies begin
August 22 - learn that my company, BNC Mortgage, Inc, has been closed. I learn about it on the internet - no calls. I had to call them to confirm. Very displeased about that.
Labor Day Weekend - Overnight trip to Coronado
September 5 - radiation therapy ends
October 11 - pronounced IN REMISSION
October 13 - son turns one year old!
October 15 - I am released to return to work - Disability ends and severance package begins.
October 19 - I have lost the 15 lbs I set to lose, plus another 20 - WOOHOO!!! My goal to break 200 lbs is one week late, but no less, I still hit it. I weigh in at 197 lbs.
November 9-11-road trip to Scottsdale, Arizona to visit my now pregnant sister and her new husband and to walk in a Lymphoma 5K in Phoenix Zoo with them.
November 22 (Thanksgiving Morning) - I ran in a 5K in Dana Point, CA to commemorate my 'to the date' one year diagnosis of Cancer. By running in a 5K, I felt it was 'snubbing my nose' at the disease.
December 1 - I turned 36 and went to Disneyland with family and friends
December 2- met my Walt's Warriors Friends at Disneyland breakfast meet - incredible time.
December 3 through now - sending out resumes, Christmas shopping, preparing our HUGE list (100+) of Christmas Cards.....just enjoying life.
I'm still smiling - but I pray for an easier 2008.
