Dedicated to the victims at Omaha, Nebraska

Even though the Holidays are upon us, I am in sad spirits knowing that nine families, in specific, will have to celebrate and cope the loss of loved ones at the same time.

I am refering to the eight murdered victims who were innocently shopping and working at Van Maur's in Omaha, Nebraska only a few days ago.

My deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers go out to the families who lost their loved ones that day. I send the same sympathies out to the family of the murderer. I don't condone at all what he did, but they are coping just like everyone else.

I hope the victims are in a better place right now.

Re: Dedicated to the victims at Omaha, Nebraska

My hopes and prayers go to the families of the victims and, yes, to this troubled young man.

As I've gotten older (but, by no means, old) these tragedies seem to be mounting in number and proximity. I lived in New York, having been to the Twin Towers numerous times; I student-taught a mile north of this mall back in the fall of 1992; I just learned of a shooting near my parents home in Denver, at a mission center.

I'm greatly saddened and pray for a break. When can we find peace?

Peace!
Roo

Re: Dedicated to the victims at Omaha, Nebraska

You gotta' feel bad for the kid who did this. I mean horrible tragedy I know. But what would push a guy (or gal) to think there was nothing left and "let's go shoot up a mall on during the Christmas season!"? We've all had times where we felt beat down and broken, but during those times I am down to get a bottle and drink... a lot. It's just sad that the young man who did this didn't have better copping mechanisms.

But all those people that lost moms, dads, sisters, brothers, you name it... that sucks especially this time of year.
