    Brain Surgery for Tom Chaney

Last Saturday I was admitted to the hospital after suffering the symptoms of a stroke. It turns out I had a brain tumor. (...and yes I enjoyed turning Ahnold's line around and saying, "It IS a tumor!!") After emergency brain surgery the tumor has been removed. There is a trapdoor in my head as a result.

There is now speculation as to the source of the tumor and the feeling is lung cancer...but that is not certain. The pathology will tell all in a couple of days. Fortunately, many advances have been made since we lost Uncle Walt some 40 years ago. Also, in my case, I've detected it sooner. I only expect this to be a few radiation treatments at most. Hopefully, after that, I'll be given a clean bill of health.

I'm lucky to have so many friends and family. The outpouring of love has, frankly, been overwhelming.

I am still in USD Medical Center Neurological ICU. Vic has bought me a laptop so I can stay in touch and for my own entertainment. I miss you guys!
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

I hope and pray that it turns out to be a benign tumor and that your up and active again very soon. Glad you have kept your sense of humor with your tumor. Now you can tell everyone it was all in your head. Get well fast.

I'm glad you're keeping your sense of humor despite all the tough times.

You'll be in my thoughts, and if I ever prayed, I'm sure you'd be in those too.
