Jigsaw puzzles

So my friend (the one Mr.Dusty nicknamed "ChurroChick" after a meet where we were there for all of 15 minutes) and I decided to spend weekend she's here (right now) doing a puzzle.This bad boy:


My question though: does anyone actually like jigsaw puzzles or are we forced to think we do because it's a "rainy day" activity?

Everyone who sees us toiling away at the 1000 pieces of chaos they just shake their head and walk away...

I love jigsaw puzzles, just not ones like you are attempting to do. I have a few, usually between 1000-5000 pieces. It helps your brain and gives me something to do.

no, once in a great while a will do one on the computer. No mess, hints, it's the way to go.

I love jigsaws! I haven't done one in forever but I had a friend in high school were puzzles were our life. Seriously.

We did the clue puzzles, a few 3-D puzzles, and even attempted those "no end" puzzles. I kinda miss those lazy afternoons of day time TV in the background, a bag of chips, cookies, and soda spread out around us as we worked away.

I'd do them these days if I had a place I could leave it "in progress". We don't have the space for me to occupy the kitchen table and leave the work there for a week or so while I complete it.

I love to do jigsaws, I just have no place to do them in the house.

If I do it on the table my mom gets upset and the cats will slide on it.

I have so many puzzles ruined cause the cats have crushed the boxes and parts have been lost.

I prefer word puzzles. Not a big jigsaw puzzle guy.

I used to like puzzles well enough, but I also don't have much room to leave one "in progress." These days, I'd rather knit or embroider than do a puzzle.

My dad and I used to do a lot when I was a kid. He really likes them, I think they are fun to an extent. No place to do them now though.

I enjoy them, but dont build them often, but I get really involved when I do. I have a hard time tearing myself away. Much like my husband and video games I guess.

I used to do them all the time with my grandma, but like everyone else has said, space is an issue. Last vacation to the mountains, my husband and I stayed up til 2 am to finish a puzzle, just so it would magically be done when everyone woke up in the morning. Obsessive much?

I use to do them a lot more before...there's nothing like sitting home on a cloudy/rainy day, playing the radio and doing a jigsaw puzzle. But then I discovered MiceChat and assorted game sites on the internet, and I don't think I've done one since. Hmmm, I have a few I would like to do. Now all I need is a rainy weekend with nowhere to go.....

Okay see everyone here's a lot more into them than I am. I counted how many pieces I put together yesterday, about 250. All of the edge and then I did the "look at the picture and grid it out..." because of the mosaic nature of it... Then Jill did the just put things together. But we were both super frustrated.

I applaud you for attempting a puzzle like yours. I avoid those so I don't start pulling my hair out in fustration.

But as far as having no space to do a puzzle or to store it, what I do is I do my puzzle on a huge piece of hardwood and if i'm done for the day, bring it to my room and store it under my bed or under the couch.

I got a 1000 piece puzzle of The Beatles Abbey Road for Christmas. Guess I'll be doing that at some point
