OC Seafood Restaurants?

I've got a real craving for crab, but my SO isn't a big fan of seafood. Can anyone suggest any seafood restaurants anywhere in Orange County in a comfortable price range (no more than $20/plate) that happen to serve crab, and perhaps a few limited non-seafood selections? This would be really greatly appreciated.

And yes, I know about Joe's Crab Shack, but I'm trying to EXPERIMENT...

Re: OC Seafood Restaurants?

You can always go to a Joe's Crab Shack. Their prices are low. There are a lot of places in Newport that you can go too.

Re: OC Seafood Restaurants?

There's Red Lobster up in Brea, but I'm not sure about the non-seafood selections. Plus those places tend to smell fishier than some other seafood spots. Just ate at a really nice place down in Dana Point called Harpoon Henry's, which, oddly enough and for reasons too long and pointless to lay out here, I happen to have the business card for in my purse here. It's at

34555 Golden Lantern
(Dana Point Marina)
Dana Point, ca 92629

But it's hovering right around your price limit, so you might wanna call them first: 949-493-2933.

I know you're craving crab, but I have to tell you the bacon-wrapped scallops were to-die-for!

In Newport Beach their this place called the Crab Cooker... Although I'm not sure what the prices are now, it is super good. It gets crowded early and by no means is fancy, it just has good food!

Zubies Dry Dock

9059 Adams Ave
Huntington Beach, CA 92646-3401
(714) 963-6362

They have seafood, pizza, meatball subs, chicken (I think)
But the prices are very good!

Re: OC Seafood Restaurants?

Thank you everybody for the suggestions. I'll always accept more!

Joe's is cheap, but me and the boy have both been there, and we love to go out to eat-- we'd rather try somewhere new.

How are the prices at the Market Broiler? If I remember correctly, they're not that bad, but...

Please please send more suggestions!!

As it stand right now, I'm thinking we'll go to the Block, bowl a game at Lucky Strike, eat at the Market Broiler, and then head to DL to ride Space Mountain! Sounds like a night of fun to me.

Ok, I know you said OC, but Long Beach is still that area as far as I'm concerned. Right down the street from the LB Joe's there is a place called the Crab Pot which is pretty good. And if you're willing to brave the 710, there's always Bubba Gump's down by the aquarium.

Crab Pot is well worth the drive! And it's just on the border of Long Beach and Seal Beach.

Crab Cooker is good, and it does get crowded, but the hard part is parking. There is none. It's all meter parking and this time of year (meaning summer), it's pretty crazy. But if you're feeling daring...

Don't look up here. (If you get this, you are truely a member of Orange County)

Re: OC Seafood Restaurants?

Ok, remember folks, I'm looking for no more than $20 per plate, and I really just want half a steamed Dungeness Crab. Don't care what comes with it. Keeping that in mind, can you guys give more details about your locations? "Market price" makes me nervous. It makes me think "expensive".

Maybe I SHOULD just go to Joe's.
