Wrong Numbers Who Won't Give Up

Just had to post about this as I've had 2 of them in one day.

What is it with people who refuse to accept they have a wrong number.

I had one guy call and ask for Paul. I told him he had the wrong number but he kept insisting Paul was at this number. I finally pointed out that I'd lived there for almost 8 years so if Paul was there he sure knew how to hide.

Then someone called my office and asked if it was Comfort Inn. I told him no, he had the wrong number and he said 'Are you sure ??'.

Now I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I am pretty sure I can tell if my office has converted to a motel.

Even when I said (politely) that it was not Comfort Inn he insisted on quoting the number back to me and I again told him he had wrong number.

I understand people make mistakes, I've dialed a wrong number of my own from time to time. But what is with that segment that wants to argue with you ??

My ex's sister's phone no was one digit off of the customer service phone no.for toastmaster (the ones who make the toasters). Shed get people calling her and screaming at her all the time. What's funny is that she would say stuff to make them even more mad!

There is a couple (I wont name their names as much as I would like to) that either used to have my number or continually use my number for their creditors, and BTW apparantly they do not pay their bills. I have had this number for 5 1/2 years and I still get about 2 calls a month from people looking for them. Its definitely frusterating.

    A little piece of heaven

2 am "Is Frank there?" Then fighting with me. Our house in Corona was 1 digit from the Dominos in Corona. That sucked.

I had an old number that apparently was either close, or was an old 7-11 number. I'm not sure why folks would feel the need to call a 7-11, but trust me, they do.

Oh, and I got stuck with someone else's creditors too. Wish I had my their number so I could sic MY creditors on THEM.

My dad's business phone frequently got calls from someone's creditors.

We frequently get calls for Roxanne, but I don't think it's the same person. Probably because my dad has the number listed under his first initial R.

I get that once in a while, probably because my cel phone number ends in "00" so it looks like a business number.

My cousin's home phone is one digit off from the cable company. They'd get calls all the time from people wanting to order pay-per-view football games and porno.

Just reminded me that when I was a kid my parents number was one digit off of Baskin Robbins. We kept telling people it was the wrong # but in time we just gave up and took orders.

This is when I mess with people. If they call a second time I say "Hold on" and then come back and say "He's in the bathroom and from the moaning and groaning sounds coming from in there, I'm guessing he's got the runs REAL bad so let me have him call you back".

Or something fun like that. Like if they insist they dialed Dominos and you hang up, if the phone rings right away answer "Dominos", then proceed to take their order.

My dad would do this. He'd end up answering the phone with "Joe's Meat Market. How may I help you?" My husband will occasionally do a Borat impression.

About two years ago at work, an ice rink, I got one phone call I will never forget. It wasn't exactly a wrong number, because she kept accepting it when I said we were an ice rink. Yet she kept going on wanting price quotes for local hotels and price ranges for local restaurants and attractions, like we were a travel group. She went on for about 10 minutes before she got so mad and frustrated that she hung up on me.

Re: Wrong Numbers Who Won't Give Up

I've had my current cell phone number for almost 8 years. For the longest time, I would get calls looking for Fernando & Georgina. I got calls from their bank, their mortgage company, credit card companies. It was insane! I'd tell them, "This is a cell phone and I've had this number for X years." The majority of those calls have stopped, but once in a blue moon I'll get a call that says "Unknown Number". I let it go to voicemail and it's usually someone looking for Fernando & Georgina or they don't leave a message at all.

The funniest one was some friend of theirs called looking for them. I told them they were no longer at this number. Not 5 minutes later, he called again and I said the same thing. About 5 more minutes go by and he called again! I said, "Dude, I have had this number for X years. If you haven't spoken to Fernando or Georgina since then and they haven't told you they changed numbers..... think about that" and hung up. He didn't call back.

I changed my phone number. Some weird guy kept calling my old cell number and leaving the strangest messages.
