Trip Report: The Los Angeles Zoo - March 30, 2008
For my birthday this year I thought I would invite some friends for a trip to the LA Zoo. It had been so long since I'd been to any zoo. It was a great time!

There were a bunch of Alligators. Really cool.

This otter was doing backflips against the wall, seemingly because he saw that we liked watching him.

I don't think I've ever seen a Koala in person. They were cute little balls of fluff that you could just cuddle. This one was on the move and I was lucky enough to have my camera ready. He quickly sat and snuggled back up for a snooze.

This is what I called "The Dinosaur Bird" because it looks like a dinosaur. Totally!

That stuff in his hand is exactly what it looks like. The Gorilla barfed in his hand and was scooping it back into his mouth with his finger. The man that was standing in front of me described it as Guacamole.

The Giraffes are my favorite. The baby was at least 6 feet tall. So beautiful!

The chimps were a crowd favorite.

This elephant picked up that chain in his trunk and was smacking it around on the ground. Must be a "toy" for him.

The Eagle is one of my favorite animals too. They are so strong and majestic looking. Kind of inspirational. I tried to get video of him flying across his cage, but he was too fast for me.

The tigers were very active that day. The one in the back was playing with a rock. haha.

For some reason I was interested in this hippo. This shot was one of those "reach over the bushes and hope he's in the shot" shots.

I even got to ride a camel. I wanted to ride the elephant but there were some kids fighting over him.

This one was not amused.

This Gorilla was really cool.

The zebras looked so sad.
So I tried to cheer them up.

This lady was really cool looking. My friend Sarah saw told me you could see it swallow. We watched it swallow and saw a lump go all the way down her neck. Then it went right back up her neck and she started chewing again. Ewww! But a beautiful animal.

Very cool report. For some strange reason, I'm not in the mood for chips & guacamole.

Before Disneyland became my favorite spot to go to I used to be at the L.A. Zoo every week. I loved walking around there and looking at the animals. Great trip report, I think I'll be going to the zoo sometime soon.
