Re: Not exactly the Superstar I dreamt I'd be

Well I wanted to be a pirate when I was really little arrgg

Then I wanted to be Marilyn Monroe

Then I wanted to be a private detective, which turned into wanting to go to law school.

Then I got thru college and realized law wasn't in my book. I wanted to go into politics. Political fundraising to be specific.

Now I'm just doing the fundraising part. Funny how your life changes and takes you in so many different directions. What I could never figure out is why are we required to make these decisions so young in life? I just got it figured out now!

    Future goals:
    Lose 30 lbs.
Hopefully meet someone to settle down with
    Travel to Australia
    Go to WDW
    Live happily ever after

Disneyphile: I'm right with ya on Antarctica and Yosemite. You know there are cruises to Antarctica! You leave from Argentina!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

My man? On a boat? Mr. gets-seasick-in-the-rain? I'd be more likely to get him to France!

Re: Not exactly the Superstar I dreamt I'd be

Well, when I was younger, I wanted to work at a gas station...

All I ever wanted was to get married, have kids and be a mom. But you know, it takes money to live so... Everyone said I should be a teacher so I went to college to be a teacher and found out too late that I wouldn't make a good teacher. So I drifted through and am still drifting, not expirenced enough to do what I would rather be doing and too much in debt to explore other options. There was also some life stuff going on in those years that kept me from doing a lot of things.

And so I'm still husband- and child-less, and smart enough to realize I'll probably always have to work somewhat, no matter what.

This topic always depresses me a bit.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    The short answer: no.

However, I do subscribe to the ideal that success is a journey. There is as much enjoyment and fufillment to be found in everyday accomplishments as there is in the grander triumphs.

Children have wonderful dreams, but they're rarely pragmatic. It's wonderful to dream at that age, but it's wholly unrealistic to think that we should try to live up to who we were in those formative years. It's a sure fire way to set one's self up for dissapointment.

just my .06 cents (.02 cents + .04 cents worth of inflation)
