Dark Knight IMAX question
Help! I got a question about the IMAX release of The Dark Knight. I'm heading to Calgary on Sunday to do some job networking and am thinking about seeing Batman on the big IMAX screen. I haven't seen any mainstream movies on the IMAX screen yet.
Is the IMAX version the same length as in regular theaters? Is it the 2.5 hrs like the regular version or is it shortened to the IMAX average length of around 50 mins?
I haven't been to an IMAX in more than 8 years so I don't know if the technology has changed to allow longer movies. I want to know so I can make a decision of where to see it, in IMAX or a regular theater. Thanks for your help Micechatters. :)
Re: Dark Knight IMAX question
The film will be the full length. Only four scenes are truly IMAX (as in, shot with an IMAX camera and not enlarged), but it will still look incredible. Definitely something to do.
Re: Dark Knight IMAX question
Yeah, IMAX has come a hugely long way in the last 8 years. With digital presentation and amped up audio you won't believe what you are seeing. Definitely go IMAX if you can.

Thanks for the feedback Micechatters!

I was under the impression that it had 6 scenes shot with the IMAX camera...?

IMAX still uses 70mm film reels. However, they are now developing a new digital IMAX projector that will either match or surpass the famous IMAX image (hopefully), as well as a digital IMAX camera.

I believe it is 4 scenes, or 20mins worth of footage shot with the 70mm IMAX camera.

Four scenes, but with several miscellaneous cityscapes dropped throughout the film.
