Lars and the Real Girl- I absolutely loved this movie. Ryan Gosling played a awesome character and his performance was great. You'll laugh and cry. I highly recommend you see this movie.

I was just told to see "Lars" as well.

Sleeping Beauty @ the El Capitan. The restoration was glorious - vivid colors, clear sound, but after not having seen it for several years, one can really see how dated the animation was and how basic the dialogue is. Still, a complete masterpiece and my favorite part was paying attention to all of Eyvind Earle's backgrounds on the big screen.

Flags of Our Fathers - I'm not sure what I expected. Maybe it was more action, because the drama that those three servicemen experienced floored me. I'm sure there's plenty of dramatic license taken throughout, but of what I'm sure is based on fact, it was really compelling and heartbreaking. I really, really enjoyed this flick. Now I need to go buy and watch Letters from Iwo Jima.

I prefer "Letters" but definitely both should be seen together.

I recently watched LILO & STITCH again and it doesn't hold up as well as I remember. I still like it but Lilo actually annoys me more than she used to.

Watching Christian Bale's THE MACHINIST and it is pretty dang creepy.

Tropic Thunder... I was disappointed. I wanted to enjoy it. I'm a film geek, but it felt like it was trying too hard to be "inside" than it needed to. RDJ was great, but the story didn't support the length. It felt like one of those movies you would see during the academy awards that's about 3 minutes in length and spoofs particular genre or current film. Ben Stiller was just so so and it felt like Jack Black didn't have enough to do. I DID enjoy Tom Cruise for the most part, although some shots felt like they were holding for laughter. Overall I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5

Prom Night-What a waste of an hour and a half.

I hope you didn't get nightmares.

Serenity - I've seen it a few times but my girls wanted to watch it.

Bangkok Dangerous - I liked it! It was as fun for me to watch as Kill Bill. It had really nice, artistic moments and nice contrasts.

I still don't like Nicolas Cage though.

Phillip Pullman has some issues with the Catholic Church. If you read all three books, you can see his anger coming out. It's too bad that movie didn't do well. I really liked it. I have not heard anything about making 2 and 3. Has anyone heard anything?

Walt - The Man Behind the Myth - I have the coffee table book that goes along with this DVD, but this is the first time I have watched this film. There was not much that I didn't already know about him, but I loved seeing the home movies. My husband watched it with me and he is has not read books about Walt, so he enjoyed finding out things that I have not told him.

Even though this man died before I was born, I still get teary eyed when I hear the dedication speech and watch others talk about the day he died.

It's been a while since I've seen this flick, but I remember that's the part of the documentary totally caught me off guard. Two hours setting up this man's brilliance, and then he'd dead. I was bawling!! Great DVD!

    I just saw that movie!

I got off work at 3:30 and I had to kill time before I go to my son's Back To School night so I went to the Edwards Irvine Spectrum and that was the movie that was playing and ended in time for me to get to his school in Long Beach.
