So glad you're enjoying the miracle of Blu-ray now, sir clinksalot. Kinda hard to go back now, I bet. I'm planning on watching this over the weekend.

    Trick 'r Treat

This is by far one of the best horror films to come by in a while, while it's not the scariest or the goriest (to be honest, you don't need gore to be a great horror film), this film pulls off something that hasn't been done since John Carpenters Halloween...capturing the spirit and feel of Halloween itself.

The film is and anthology composed of four stories that happen in one small town on Halloween, but unlike films like Creepshow where all the stories are told one by one...they are interwoven. While it's a rather gusty direction, it's pulled off very well...giving you plenty of things to look for in the background for reacurring events and characters.

As for the stories, we have the classic ghost story/uban legend in the form of the "Halloween School Bus Massacre", the classic fear of the stranger poisoning Halloween candy, a tale of girls partying in the woods with a black hooded murder going after one of them, and a old hermit who hates Halloween getting a visit from Sam...a little trick or treater who shows him how serious the event really is.

What's unfortunate about the film is Warner Brothers never gave this a theatrical release, it was supposed to...but it kept getting pushed back until they released it straight to dvd and Blu-Ray a couple weeks ago.

Normally that's the sign of a bad film, but that's not the case with Trick 'r Treat. It was shown to various films festivals and recieved unanimous praise, it even won Audience choice awards.

The only reason I can think of WB not releasing this in theaters is because kids get killed, there's a body count of 11 kids...but only one death is on screen and it's darkly humorous. Not to mention 8 of them do come back...in a very special way. That and were not talking 5 year olds, all the kids looked to be in the Middle School age...and for the record, there's a good amount of Adults that get knocked off as well.

None the less, it's still a really fun film that's perfect for Halloween, and if you can...get the Blu Ray since all the special features are on that and not the normal DVD. (One way to push Blu Ray.)
Disney and Universal fan for life!...Shocking ain't it?
Seize the future with X-S! Not Stitch.
I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.

Where the Wild Things Are - I need this soundtrack, because it's the kind of music I listen to. But this movie is far from a kids movie, a family movie, or even a kids movie for adults. It's surprisingly very deep and symbolic in what they present. I'd classify it as an art film, personally.

That said, I also would like a giant plush of KW or Alexander. Those two were my favorite characters.

I spent today indoors, and was glued to my tv set all day.

Batman/Superman: Public Enemies- For a Direct-to-DVD movie, this wasn't bad at all. It had a lot of action, the pace was pretty fast, although it didn't have a LOT of character development. I think they did a good job with plotting as well as the animation- it's very art-deco. It's also great to know they had the original voice actors from the animated TV shows.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape- My Mom and Dad bought this movie on DVD, and they all told me "Oh, it's a great movie," etc. So I popped it in, and that movie was really well-done. Johnny Depp was really good as the title character, and I think DiCaprio played someone who was "special" really well. It had a story about redemption, escaping the past, and realizing you shouldn't waste your life.

    Paul Blart: Mall Cop-
This movie was very funny and entertaining. One of Kevin James best work. This was a original movie that did really well at the box office and it wasn't a sequel. Hoping for a sequel.

WHAT?? That was seriously one of the worst movies of the year!

GHOSTBUSTERS - After watching ZOMBIELAND I had an aching to see this again. Still hilariously entertaining.

Could of been worse. I think your overeacting too much about a simple action flick.

I think you need to read a dictionary or maybe just read my post again. I said it was horrible... and yet looking forward to watching it again.

Finally watched it myself. Agreed. I own the previous Platinum Edition DVD, but the colors just pop in this BD version. But I found it disconcerting that the images on the Dumbo BD trailer were less vibrant. Back to Snow White, every time I watch this, I always place myself in the mindset of a skeptical audience member of the era, who'd only ever seen 5-minute short cartoons beforehand. It always enhances my love of the skill, devotion and artistry presented in this long-form animated film, working on every detail to ensure moviegoers of the day are entertained and amazed.

I watched a couple of movies on my Halloween list; both Blair Witch movies. The first one was good, the second, meh; not great, but also not bad, just meh.
