Repo! The Genetic Opera - I rented this because I thought the songs would be nominated at the Oscars, but they were not. The film arrived while I was on vacation so I decided to watch it anyway. It stars Anthony Head (from Buffy) and Sarah Brightman makes an appearence. The story centers around this company that will take back your organ you payed for if you can not make the payments. Very strange. The music was interesting. Can't really recommend it though.

Re: The "What Movie did you just see" thread STRIKES BACK

Did a triple feature today at work! Here they are in order of view'd...

The Wrestler - The only film to make me physically sick. But that's because of one shot of Mickey Rouke's back after a Hardcore Match where his back is freshly patched. But that movie had so much heart!

Grand Torino - Made me cry, much to my surprise. I just wish the other actors were able to keep up with the performance of Eastwood. Bee Van, for being a supporting actor, was probably the biggest violation in that.

Frost/Nixon - Performances from both leading roles are Oscar worthy, and I was surprised how engaged I was for a film that has such a seemingly-unengaging idea. I was told it was an actor's film, and it really is. There's a dramatic pause where the subtle facial acting is just beautiful!

And now I'm caught up on my movies... for now.

Been watching quite a number of movies on Blu Ray thanks to my Blockbuster online rental.

Went to the theater on Sunday to see Revolutionary Road. I really enjoyed it. All the actors/actresses in the film were great.

My Bloody Valentine in 3D- It was a good popcorn movie. Yes there were classic / cheesy moments, but it was fun. The movie is rated R for a reason. Not so safe for kids.

Watched a bunch of extras. Did the cinemaexplore for both CARS and Sleeping Beauty along with all of their extras. Wow, that took a loooooong time. But it was great stuff! Tomorrow I'll do Ratatouille and if time permits, Nightmare Before Christmas.

We saw Underworld: Rise of the Lycans... lamest love scene ever! Decent movie over all.

To live would be an awfully big adventure.

Frost/Nixon - Had to see it since it is nominated for Best Picture. I actually enjoyed it. I don't know if Howard was planning on this, but I actually felt sorry for Nixon. I am 41 so I do not remember Watergate and if I did I would probably feel different toward Nixon, but just watching that interview and the close up of his face and all the remorse he felt, made me shed a tear. Powerful movie making.

Last night I watched a movie that has this scene in it:

Ah, despite it's flaws, it was still a fun movie.

I agree completely, "flaws" and all.

Just got back from a buddy's place. He wanted to show off his newly remodeled den that now includes his and his wife's 52" HDTV. We didn't actually watch entire movies, but we did see about the first third of WALL•E, the beginning and ending of The Incredible Hulk, and some of the classic moments from Forbidden Planet. Of the latter, I didn't realize I'd seen it before, but the scenes he pulled up were ones I definitely remembered seeing as a kid. Then I also remembered a lot of story went over my head at the time too!
