It's all up to you, really. I think they work better in the order they were released, but that's how I saw them. I can see how sitting down and watching all six in numerical order would make sense, but it would also ruin some of the shocker moments from the original trilogy. Vader is Luke's father?!? *gasp* You'll know all of that beforehand if you see them in numerical order. Plus the fight scenes are going to look painfully slow if you see them in numerical order. After watching Darth Maul fight, seeing the Vader/Kenobi duel ate the end of Episode IV is akin to watching a turtle crawling uphill through cold molasses with a 50 lb weight on it's back...

Reaver, speaking of "shockers", you just told him the biggest one!!! That is a once in a lifetime moment of personal experience like finding out who "Rosebud" was! Bad Reaver, Bad.

At least don't also tell him it was the butler who did it.

Something else to keep in mind...Fans of these movies adore them, and make them out to be these grand, wonderful movies. WHICH THEY TOTALLY ARE. But...The acting's a little cheezy, the dialogue is a lot cheezy. Don't set your expectations so high that it wrecks the films for you. Just enjoy them for what they are.

Hey! I was saving that as a surprise! LOL

I figured everyone in the free world knew the Vader/Luke thing... If I spoiled anything, I'm terribly sorry.

My favorite SW moment is the awsome opening scene in "Epis.III". The CGI on that is outstanding.... You should see it IV, V, VI,I,III. Dont see episode 2, its soooo bad.

Nothing will ever beat the beginning of the Death Star battle in Episode 6, with thos bajillion tie-fighters swarming the Falcon... The looked like insects, there were so many of them. And they weren't done by computer!

Re: Star Wars...Watch or Not to Watch

Watch the movies, like MM said, they have been a big cultural influence and references. Ep IV, V, VI were released probably a little before you were born and shortly there after. Technology was not advanced compared to today's CGI effects, so keep that in mind. At the time of these releases, you have to remember, this was ground breaking special effects, these people were masters of their craft!

After you watched those, then watch I, II, and then III. Like SpeedScout said, it's an epic, one long story. Watching them in order of release date, you get to experience the same dramatization everyone else experienced.

After you watch those movies, then rent Mel Brooke's SpaceBalls and you will be able to understand understand "The Schwartz".

"Lone Starr: Helmet! So, at last we meet for the first time for the last time. Yeah.
Dark Helmet: Before you die, there is something you should know about us, Lone Starr.
    Lone Starr: What?
    Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former room-mate.
Lone Starr: What's that make us?

Absolutely classic movie. Right up there with Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein as his best...

Murphy , You really will enjoy them. I got to experience them when I was a kid in the theaters and no matter which order you watch them they are captivating.

Speederscout, when was this party? Sounds like fun!

Re: Star Wars...Watch or Not to Watch

Hmm... to watch or not to watch the Star Wars films? I say, yeah, go for it. But to those of you who say you have to see them all, I say you're forgetting a few Star Wars Movies. In the order that I would suggest watching them:

    A New Hope
    The Empire Strikes Back
    Return of the Jedi
    The Phantom Menace
    Attack of the Clones
    Revenge of the Sith
    Caravan of Courage
    Battle for Endor
    The Star Wars Holiday Special

But beware! That final film is only for those who are not the faint of heart! In some countries, watching it is considered torture and is outlawed by the Geneva Convention. Oh, and the two movies above it you should see only if you're really, really dedicated to Star Wars or if your age is still in the single digits.
