About LinkBacksDisney's flagship World of Disney store will close and relocate.Yes. folks, because of the rent rise in 2010, Disney will close the store and move to another location. Word on the street is that they are looking to Times Square.

Though I can't believe that rent in Times Square is any cheaper.

Jeez, they spent how much to refurb it into World of Disney? I'm betting Disney's going to move everything from the current location to the new one, since I bet they wouldn't want to make any new scenery.

I PRAY for Times Square. Would make it so much better for us commuters.This is sad news, but at least it's still a year away.

Like the rent in Times Square will be any cheaper than 5th Ave?
The rent will definitely not be much better -- but maybe they're hoping a Times Square store will do better? More tourists, I suppose. More people who'd buy a one-size-fits-all Mickey Mouse T-shirt.
It's sad, though, the current store is wonderfully designed. We can only hope they won't lower the bar.
I will only say that it's present location is a bit out of the way for tourists/walkers. Being closer to Times Square and the other kid friendly stores around there (M&Ms, Hershey's, Toys 'R Us) could save some shoe leather.
I would think that they would get more tourist business in the Times Square area.
Well it makes me happy that it's (hopefully) Times Square since I live closer but I'm not so happy that it'll be closed for awhile and NY will be without a World of Disney for a while
