    Re: Ariel's Beginning

Well, I thought it better than than Little Mermaid II (but not by much) The Sebastian sub plot was weak, the music was lacking, and the animation was about the same as the TV show. Which is a shame because a major macguffin about the King's wife could have been the better story.

Of course the original Little Mermaid is a very tough act to follow, but unlike Cinderella or Jungle Book, most of the creative team behind the original film are still around. Shame that Disney didn't tap into them to bring more of the charm of the first film.

That said I did (sort of) like the film. I just wish it had tried harder (heck Return To Neverland was a much more satisfying sequel)

Hey, why don't they release the TV series on DVD?

The animation in the clips I've seen look WAY better than the half-azzed animation of Little Mermaid II and the TV series. It looks like watercolors even though I believe it was computer animated and not hand-drawn.

Poor sales of other Disney television shows on DVD. That's why we still haven't seen Gummi Bears volume 2, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers volume 3 etc.

Of course if Disney pit more effort into the releases they'd probably sell better. Right now there on par with torrents you can get online for free.

Im sure eventually it will be on the Disney Channel and we'll just watch it then. Unless my mom buys it for my kids.

Sorry Gummi Bears, and Rescue Rangers DVD's are hardly a good enough test to see if Disney's TV shows will sell well on DVD.

Bring on the big guns, Little Mermaid, Aladdin, even Goof Troop!

&Timon and Pumbaa, I'd buy that!
Anyways, I don't really have high expectations for this movie, but I'm still going to see it!

Goof Troop got a three episode DVD which was meant to be "volume 1" of many (or at least) more 3 episode disc releases, same with Quack Pack. I have no idea why Disney tried this method but obviously it didn't work.

Ducktales, Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles, more popular series, were also poor sellers. Surprising since Gargoyles actually and worthwhile bonus content (including episode commentaries) and a large cult following who would obviously buy the sets, but season 2 volume 1 just didn't bring in enough money to convince Disney to continue creating sets.

I too would like to see Mermaid, Aladdin and especially Adventures in Wonderland on DVD, but at this rate will be lucky to get anything at all.

    Re: Ariel's Beginning

I just saw the whole movie and it wasn't that great. it was basically how ariel's mom looked liked and the music being banned. and it did felt like the tv cartoon show you see on the disney channel however it was ok. I think the little mermaid 2 is more better.

Disney did not spend time to restore the episodes and didn't put effort into making bonus materials or interviews on the DVD set. I'm shocked that Darkwing Duck, DuckTales and Gummi Bears didn't sell well.

Well, her voice isn't going to be the same as it was 20 years ago. Voices change as you get older.
