    Re: James Bond with me

You're probably right about Grant... Bond needs to be "in control" of himself at all times

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

The latest....The Vine: Craig odds-on favorite for 007

British actor Daniel Craig might be holding the winning hand in the James Bond/"Casino Royale" sweepstakes. Most handicappers have had Craig, star of this summer's "Layer Cake," on the shortlist for some time, and Tuesday, London's Daily Mail upped the ante by reporting that Craig will indeed fill the shoes of the mythic Agent 007. Separately, sources close to the project say that the actor is close to being officially tapped as the new Bond. In keeping with its tight-lipped policy regarding "Casino Royale," a spokesman for Sony Pictures, which will release the gambling-themed Bond film -- scheduled to go before the cameras in early 2006 under Martin Campbell's direction -- said: "We are not commenting on rumors. When we have an announcement to make, we will let you know." In May, Craig addressed the Bond scuttlebutt during an interview with online movie news Web site IGN FilmForce. "There's a lot of rumors floating around," he said. "It's not a bad position to be in. If even half of them or a third of them are true, it's not a bad position to be in." (Tatiana Siegel)

    Wow, even Pierce looks pleased....

I really could see him, more so than the other choices, as the new Bond.

A movie will tell, though. I didn't really like Timothy Dalton as JB - Brosnan was a much better fit for the role.

Yes, he's quite a good actor. Layer Cake was a great showcase for him, and he's really stood out in everything from Lara Croft Tomb Raider to Sylvia.

    Re: James Bond with me

I think Craig would be a good choice for Bond. Been through them all from the beginning when I saw Dr. No as a teen and we all came out of theater saying "WOW!" It got me into the library where I devoured all of Fleming's books and became a huge fan for many years. He is described in the books as resembling Hoagy Carmichael.

The fascination has dimmed over the years with the departure of Connery. Strange that I thought Moore was great as The Saint but never could buy him as Bond. The production values kept me going back and I have a love for On Her Majesty's Secret Secret because of the quality of the film and Diana Rigg even though Lazenby looked good, he didn't make much of an impression in the part.

I'm definitely in the minority when I say that Dalton seemed right for the part. Brosnan never clicked with me at all and that is probably because of me tiring of the series and growing weary with the overblown plots and stunts more than a dislike of him.

Clive Owen seemed like a good choice knowing of his work for several years.
I've not seen Craig in anything but think he looks right for the part, especially that shot of him in the vanilla ice cream suit with the car. He's rugged looking and handsome but not pretty. Makes him look like a winner for the role.

Yeah, having followed the scuttlebutt for so long I'd have to say things are looking good for Mr. Craig. Wasn't it said perviously that one of the Brocolis held him as their favorite choice, but the other didn't like him?

Of course as soon as they finally make this announcement we'll have another bit of similar casting to speculate on. Did you see that a bio of Ian Flemming has been greenlit? Wonder who's gonna play Flemming?

Probably a bit early for casting but the young, bigger names will all want to kill for it!
Biopic on 007 Creator Ian Fleming Coming
    Source: Variety October 12, 2005

Warner Bros. has made a deal to develop a movie about James Bond creator Ian Fleming, reports Variety. Fleming has been written by Damian Stevenson and will be produced by Andrew Lazar through his Mad Chance company.

The film tells the story of how the author's own experiences with womanizing and spying shaped his signature secret agent creation.

Born into a privileged English family, Fleming began as a comparative underachiever until a stint as a journalist covering the Soviet Union led him to begin spying on that country for the Foreign Office. Fleming was the mastermind of numerous clever spying schemes, some deemed too outlandish to use, says the trade.

He unveiled 007 in "Casino Royale" in 1953, and that book has been dusted off for the 21st film in the series.

Lazar also is producing another film on a classic secret agent for Warner Bros., Get Smart, with Steve Carell attached.

Not self-love this time. Saw this in an earlier post:
