    Re: 'star Trek' 2009

    Looks really flashy.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

    Re: 'star Trek' 2009

Appears to be quite stunning. Can't get enough of Ster Trek. that's for zure. Looks like this new Trek may well return the franchise to it's initial cutting edge. Hopefully, it will maintain a healthy balance between the cerebraL and homespun afability. Look forward to seeing Nemoy again,

however it is that they work him into the story line. I imagine that Shatner will appear in a future film. Heck ..the media could be lieing to us, and he could be in this one. Anything can happen in the ST universe.

Paramount tweaked the Star Trek trailer a tiny bit and added a familiar face. This is not a fan made parody trailer, it is an official one from Paramount. The trailer is virtually the same except the little added bit at the end:

A sneak peek at Michael Giacchino's scoring sessions to Star Trek

    Posted on December 19, 2008

Earlier this fall, composer Michael Giacchino recorded his new score to the highly anticipated reimagining of Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams. Scoring took place at the Sony Scoring Stage, but with the film coming out in May 2009, mum was the word. In fact, we're not even able to show you photos from the session just yet.... everything is locked down that tightly!

But Michael Giacchino had a great idea - treat it like a sensitive courtroom case. With the help of his good friend and former Disney artist Chad Frye, we are very excited to bring you a little Christmas present: a sneak peek (through artist renditions) of the scoring session to Star Trek.

I wish it were May 8 already. Or May 7 since I'll probably be at The Bridge's IMAX theatre at midnight that night with friends to watch it.

    The new "Star Trek" movie

    'Star Trek' boldly going Blu-ray

Paramount sets release for original films, TV series

    By John Latchem
    The Hollywood Reporter
    Feb 17, 2009, 05:13 PM ET

Paramount Home Entertainment is joining the marketing hoopla for the May 8 theatrical release of the new "Star Trek" movie by releasing the original films and TV show on Blu-ray Disc for the first time.

Due on Blu-ray April 28 is "Star Trek: The Original Series -- Season One." The seven-disc set includes all 29 episodes from the landmark 1966-67 season of the seminal science fiction series, with the option for viewers to toggle between the original broadcast versions and the recent remastered versions that include enhanced visual effects.

Extras include the original previews for each episode, plus a variety of behind-the-scenes featurettes and retrospectives. Diamond Select Toys will offer an exclusive Sulu action figure with purchase of the set.

Paramount follows this May 12 with two Blu-ray boxed sets of the films based on the original series, the "Star Trek Original Motion Picture Collection" and the "Star Trek Motion Picture Trilogy."

The "Original Motion Picture Collection" includes the six films starring the cast of the original television series: "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" (1979), "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" (1982), "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" (1984), "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" (1986), "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier" (1989) and "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" (1991). The set includes the bonus disc "Star Trek: The Captains' Summit," featuring a roundtable discussion hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and featuring William Shatner (Capt. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (Spock), Patrick Stewart (Capt. Picard of "Star Trek: The Next Generation") and Jonathan Frakes (Riker of "TNG").

According to a Paramount spokesperson, the Blu-ray versions of the films are the original theatrical cuts, and the set does not include Robert Wise's director's edition of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," released on DVD in 2001.

    'Star Trek' sequel on track

Paramount hires trio to pen screenplay

Paramountís 'Star Trek' franchise relaunch bows in May,
but the studio already has a sequel in the works.

    By Tatiana Siegel
    Variety

As Paramount Pictures readies the May 8 release of its "Star Trek" franchise relaunch, the studio is moving forward with a sequel, and has hired Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof to pen the screenplay.

J.J. Abrams, who directed and produced the latest chapter, is onboard to produce the follow-up alongside his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk. No decision has been made yet on whether Abrams will return behind the camera for the sequel.

Orci, Kurtzman and Lindelof also are receiving producing credit on the sequel.

Story is still in the embryonic stage, but the trio are aiming to deliver their script to the Melrose studio by Christmas for what would likely be a summer 2011 release.

"There's obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn't even come out yet," said Lindelof, co-creator with Abrams of ABC's "Lost" who produced the upcoming "Trek" but did not contribute to Orci and Kurtzman's screenplay. "But we're so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed."

As for potential storylines, Kurtzman stressed that the writing team will wait to take a cue from fan reaction about which direction to go.

"Obviously we discussed ideas, but we are waiting to see how audiences respond next month," he said. "With a franchise rebirth, the first movie has to be about origin. But with a second, you have the opportunity to explore incredibly exciting things. We'll be ambitious about what we'll do."

Though Orci and Kurtzman have worked together as a writing team for more than 12 years, the duo has worked with Lindelof on only one screenplay: DreamWorks' "Cowboys and Aliens," which they are currently writing together.

Paramount has high hopes for the "Star Trek" relaunch, and is pulling out all the stops on the marketing front. Studio began a full-scale campaign six months before the film's May bow.

Anyone see last week's CSI? I guess they weren't allowed to use Star Trek's name, but just about every reference is from some episode.

That said, I'm up for this movie. I'm not as big a ST:TOS as I am of the movies and TNG, and of course if any of them sees a Romulan, it will totally ruin that scene in TOS when they first see one. [pushing glasses back up nose]. You know, Episode 8?

A friend of mine got media passes to the world premier in Sydney the other week... took his brother who is a crazy Trek nerd. They both absolutely LOVED it. He's seen it twice now I think and yeah, can't say enough good things about it.
