"A bad day at Disneyland is better then a great day at work." ~ Max Fischer
I'm big on the movies and am looking forward to almost all of these flicks.
To Boldly Go Where No MiceChatter Has Gone Before!
Public Enemies which is not on your poll but I'm considering that a Summer Blockbuster.
Transformers is my next choice.
Who's in that?
I didn't realize there were so many that I would want to see. 'Up' of course. X-Men, Star Trek, Angels and Demons, Harry Potter . . . Looks like I'll be spending the summer in doors!![]()
the only one on the list that isn't eiother a remake or and series is Up. Nothing NEW
#1 is undoubtedly Half-Blood Prince. Also looking forward to seeing Angels & Demons with my good twin, the Light Lady. Terminator: Salvation's preview surprisingly made me want to see it, and besides, it has Christian Bale in it. And also anticipating Wolverine because Jackman can give one helluva lap-dance.
From the looks of the recent trailers, Star Trek looks like it's going to be GOOD!!!!
Let's see now, the top three for me are.
Transformers- It looks like it'll be another fun popcorn flick.
Terminator- I'm pretty dang giddy over this one.
UP- After seeing the newest trailer, I have a feeling Pixar has another winner in their hands.
Now I was originally exicted for X-Men Origins, but after seeing the leaked unfinished version...while I will say it's better then X3, they still really screwed up some of my favorite Mutants. (What they did to Beak and Deadpool is downright unacceptable.)
Oh yes, after seeing the trailer for Star Trek...I smell a bomb. Honestly, to me it does not look good at all. A big clue is hearing my Dad (who is fairly knowledgable about Star Trek) tell me that when he saw the new trailer...he didn't think it was for Star Trek until the title popped up.
Disney and Universal fan for life!...Shocking ain't it?
Seize the future with X-S! Not Stitch.
I'm not crazy, now if you will excuse me I have tea time with the ghosts at Haunted Mansion.
I'd laugh so hard if Star Trek were a flop, but I guess it still wouldn't change the lack of creativity and dependence on preexisting properties in Hollywood.
I mean, of all of the listed blockbusters, only one is not based on a preexisting property. That, my friends, is sad.
I think it's because the ST franchise is a fan favorite, and they feel it will always be one, just look at the trek conventions. The original cast, from the series to the first 6 movies, Shatner and company wanted to move on to different stuff, besides the fact they were aging. So they tried with the TNG cast. The bridge between old and new in the generations movie, it sold well because the fact that Kirk died in it. That was the selling point. That movie signalled the end of the TNG series and branched into movies. First contact did well, exciting concept, but the next two didn't do so well. And again, the cast was ready to move on. And I think they felt that the other 2 spin off series - DS9 and Voyager - wouldn't do well in a movie format. And the last episodes of DS9 & Voyager saw the Captain of one get killed off while the other storyline ended with them returning home. And if I remember correctly, Janeway was featured in ST Nemesis (the last TNG movie) as an admiral. Enterprise with Bakula wouldn't do well on the big screen. But like with Enterprise, they're taking the new movie, with new cast to do a whole new spin on it in the guise of a prequel.
But alas, with Roddenberry long gone, and his widow Majel Barrett (who was an integral part within the whole ST franchise - from first original series to the movies and beyond) also passing away recently, I see the franchise coming to a close pretty soon here. At least on the big and small screens. To continue with the new one and the cast, would be to overwrite the orignal series and the first 6 movies. This franchise will only be able to live on in books. That's the only way it will live long and prosper.
I still think the movie will be eye candy for an action junkie like me.
Wolverine for me because Wolverine is my favorite Superhero and for sure G.I. Joe. I just saw the trailer and I have to say it looks AMAZING!!!! I loved G.I. Joe as a kid and remember knowing is half the battle. Yo Joe!!
Out of the ones listed, i'd say none. But I am looking forward to seeing "The Ugly Truth" which comes out the end of July. That looks so good.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban
