Best Movie Horror/Suspense Franchise of All Time?

    Hello Again All!

I created a Best Movie (And Best Movie Series) poll thread, which can be viewed here. And when trying to create the poll part for the best movie series, a bunch of horror ones came to mind. So I created this separate thread and poll for it. Tell us what you think is the best horror series of all time. Even feel free to share what you think is simply the best horror movie of all time.

One little note, within the poll above, Friday the 13th and Halloween are the originals, not the remakes.

As a child of the 80's, I can say freddie kruger scared me the most. Just for the fact that he can get in ur dreams, and I that really scared me when it was time for bedtime. Plus, those claws...it used to give me shivers..just seeing them in a movie poster.

Alien, hands down. And not all that AvP garbage. I'm talking the original 4 Alien flicks. I'm such a big fan of the series, I was an alien at Halloween Haunt for my first two years, there. It also is somewhat of an inspiration for my tattoo =)

I'm going Alien with the choices. I was a HUGE fan of The Omen series.

Yes, when I mentioned Aliens, I was talking about the original series, not vs Predator, which I didn't include in this list either.

So when you see Aliens on that list, it does not include AvP. And I think only the first 3 aliens was good. The 4th one, Alien Resurrection, was a little bit on the lame side. It was an obvious, but lame attempt at relaunching a franchise that was supposed to end as a trilogy.

The first was great, the second ok, the third don't mention, the fourth should be destroyed, the remake pointless.

Of the above list only the Alien franchise has any sort of quality level beyond the first or second movie. There's no real contest.

Had to go with Alien and Nightmare on Elm Street.

I would have said Halloween, because 1 and 2 are AMAZING. But after that, it went down hill. Especially 3.

I know Nightmare on Elm Street went down, but not until like 5 or 6.

So I wonder why no one is choosing Silence of the Lambs. Maybe perhaps because the series jumped around too much, from 2, to 3, to 1. And cause they kept changing the actors too much. Well at least they had Hopkins play Hannibal in all 3 of them.

At this point I feel that I should give an honourable mention to Brian Cox in Manhunter.

I like Nightmare on Elm Street and Halloween. I cant just choose one. I like Freddys style of killings through Dreams and Michael's suspenseful scenes where you didnt know where he was going to show up. Though the down side with all the horror series they get worse with every sequel. With the Halloween remake and Friday the 13th i think the revamps of future horror remakes should be at least as good or better then the originals.

There are actually 4 in the series. The most recent was 2007's Hannibal Rising in which Hopkins wasnt involved.
