No you are not. You must have missed my post back on page one. I think the idea is stupid and that trailer for Laurel & Hardy is like a nightmare coming true. OMG!!! That is the worst piece of tripe I have ever seen. WHY oh WHY do they keep on doing this dreck. Only the Stooges could do a proper Stooge Movie and Laurel and Hardy cannot in any way be duplicated and to try to do so is plagiarism taken to it's final platou. And those who pay to see either of these peices of crud, I guess you just have no regard for the orgingals and more money than you know what to do with.
Oh contrare. In their own day, the Stooges brand of course physical comedy was given the nose up by refined society ..and even by those at the top of their own entertainment industry. Today, their mannor of poking fun at society's superficial conventions has permiated and entertained people from all socio-economic backgrounds ..and A-List actors are being sought to portray them.
The Stooges would be proud of the recognition being bestowed upon them through this modern day celuloid vehicle. People such as myself will not pay to see the new film out of disrespect ..but out of celebration over this most wonderful tribute.
Nobody ever said that the Stooges or Laurel and Hardy could ever be replaced. On the other hand, they will never be forgot either. If anything, the coming film will create a resurgence in classic Stooge films. "proper Stooge movie" you say? Larry, Moe and Curly Jo never seemed to care for anything that was considered "proper". Their course, slap stick rebelion against such is what made their fans laugh to the point of tears. May the laughter live on.
To Boldly Go Where No MiceChatter Has Gone Before!
One would first wonder why they would try to do this, with so many instant obstacles standing in front of it--everyone has their own special feelings and connections with the various characters, and whoever plays the parts now would never be able to stand up to the comparison on the big screen. To just throw something up there knowing people will slavishly go as if their ears were caught in a vice ought to have their eyes poked out.
Second, you'd have to have a great story, a great script, and that's what made those famous Stooge shorts so good (You Nazsty Spy!) That is two large mountains you have to move (wise guy) before you shoot a single frame of film.
Sean Penn would be an inspired choice for Larry Fine. What would be equally as bold a move would be to cast Dan Whitney as Curly. Never happen, but think about him playing it with all the gold old boy redneck personal stripped away.
I hope this all stops, though, before the unthinkable happens, and we wind up with remakes of "Duck Soup", "True Grit", and "The Sons of the Desert."
Sorry hate me if you will but don't bother to call it a Three Stooges movie when the Stooges are dead and gone. They where who the where and no one needs to bother trying to be them for a movie. Sorry but as a loyal Stooge fan I will never see any imposter Stooge film.
