100 movies to see before you die?

    I just found this...
100 Movies To See Before You Die - Photo Gallery on Yahoo! Movies

I have fully seen 31 of the movies. My favorites are on the list...Godfathers 1 and 2. Some like it Hot.

I have partially seen about 10...Groundhog's Day, When Harry met Sally, Wizard of Oz.....before I was bored out of my mind and changed the channel.

How many have you seen? Whats your favorite on the list? Which ones surprised you?

I was pretty shocked Animal House and Monthy Pythons Holy Grail were on there. Blazing Saddles too. Great movies. Great. But, not in everyones taste.

Re: 100 movies to see before you die?

Well, I did take the time to peruse the list. And I actually kept track of the ones that I have seen.

    57.

But there are some on there that I know I won't be seeing before I pass on.

    And I won't regret it...

As a funny side note, Blazing Saddles was on cable last night. I hadn't seen it in years so I decided to watch it. And there it was on the list!

    Thanks for posting.

Love Wizard of Oz, Hard Day's Night (didn't think that would be on the list), Toy Story, Groundhogs Day... I'm surprised Cool Hand Luke wasn't on there (LOVE that movie!) or Gone with the Wind or even Ghandi (love love love that movie). There are things on that list that I just can't watch. Saving Private Ryan I've heard is really hard to watch if you know or have had any family member part of D-Day. So I would love to see that movie but I can't.

yeah...Gone with the Wind should have been on there.

Saving Private Ryan is a hard movie. Not the hardest I've watched, though. It has a special memory for me. It's the only movie me and my dad went to see together. Just the two of us. He's a veteran of Vietnam.

I had sort of the same experience with Saving Private Ryan. My grandpa is a Korean War vet and it felt crazy watching it with him.

Was going to go through, then I saw it was a slide show.

Why do web designers think those are such good ideas, seriously?
    What an idiot....

I am very glad they put 12 angry men..I never get tired of watching this simple movie about getting justice right. Henry fonda was indeed a great actor. I'm a big fan of old classic movies so many of my favorites were mention, which i was very happy about

i was shocked to see fast times at ridgment high, awesome movie, espically jeff spocoila(sorry about the spelling)

    i have seen 43.

most of them are the older/foreign films like the 400 blows, the bicycle thief, rashomon, M, Breathlessetc. I had to watch them for a film class haha. and they were all terribly boring. not sure why they are on this list. I guess they were innovative or something back in the day but i cant see many people in todays generation enjoying them really

I've seen 87 of them. But I teach film, a number of them I show in class. Was sad not to find "The Philadelphia Story" on the list. Was pleased that "Ground Hog's Day" was. That film has so much beneath it's surface. So, silly comedy, where the main character actually and actively discovers the meaning of life.

I wasn't surprised to find it, or Holy Graile, or Blazing Saddles on the list. While they may not be everyone's taste, they certainly are films people should see. It's not called 100 films that pleased everyone, it was called 100 movies to see before you die. Of course, these lists are always as much about the people that put together the lists as much as anything else.

Like all of these sorts of lists (and they seems to be a new one almost every week), I see it more as a sprinboard for discussion/arguments than anything resembling definitive.
Some I've seen and loved, others I hated. Most of my favourite movies are not present on this list. But each to their own.
    WDW - 1987 & 1991
    DLP - 1996, 2004, 2006 & 2007
    DLR - October 2011

I'm sure the designers don't want it, but the advertising department LOVE having 101 different pages full of ads to load up... it's better being able to give an advertiser 100 page views as opposed to 1 for each user!

Is this list anywhere but that slideshow? I ain't clicking through that
