Took my two boys to it, 12 and 9. There were some intense stuff for the 9 year old, but I figured, since he survived Indiana Jones, he could survive this. He was ok with all.
I thought the movie was fun with lots of action. I love Hugh Jackman, so from a female perspective, it was a joy to watch that man without that shirt on! Like a poster said before me, summer movies have begun!
This movie was garbage plain and simple. This type of comic book movie may have been acceptable in the 90's but the genre has moved so far ahead with The Dark Knight, Iron Man and Watchmen that this piece of dung is unworthy of being considered in the same class.
It's a shame to because Hugh Jackman is great as Wolverine. I agree with what everyone else has said. The way the creators of this film ruined deadpool is unjustified. It's a travesty. And once again Ryan Reynolds was perfect casting for the role but they have ruined the character.
My suggestion to everyone is save your money for the real summer blockbuster next week when Star Trek open which has recieved near unanimous positive reviews.
Question to those who have seen this movie...
My 7 year old son wants to see it and has no problem with violence etc (!). However he is sqeemish about scenes involving operations and injections (we had to leave Iron Man after 20 minutes). Considering the subject matter is how Wolverine got his claws and strengthened bones, I assume that there are a few scenes like that. Can someone confirm or deny this?
WDW - 1987 & 1991
DLP - 1996, 2004, 2006 & 2007
DLR - October 2011
I really enjoyed the movie a lot. It was fun and exciting. I don't know much about the character of Deadpool (I didn't even know he was a character until I played the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game). What is it that some people don't like about how he was in the movie?
There is a scene where Wolverine is injected with the metal. There are needles and drills, but you never see them really penetrate the skin. It's almost exclusively seen on the x-ray where they are drilling into his skeleton. Wolverine struggles in pain underwater and the tension is built as his heartbeat on the monitor is is getting faster and faster, but nothing gory or anything like that.

Travesty? Seems a tad hyperbolic, but then again, I'm not a die-hard fan of the X-men comics. That being said, I thought the film was a mixed bag. I wasn't expecting much, and they exceeded my expectations. Hugh Jackman was great, and I was surprised how tough Liev Shreiber was amazingly tough. The dark edge of the film was problematic for me, some of the violence felt way over the top. I would give the film a 6 out of 10.
No surprise, there is already a sequel in the works. Now I understand how one of the endings has more meaning for the franchise:
Wolverine Sequel Already in the Works - Yahoo! MoviesX marks the spot for a Wolverine sequel.
Just two days after Hugh Jackman's domination of the box office—Box Office Mojo estimates the film's worldwide gross at $158.2 million and counting—comes the rather unsurprising word that a follow-up to the origin story is already in the works.
According to Variety, the sequel, which will mark Jackman's fifth time donning the killer claws, will focus on the X-Men comic's samurai storyline, the Japanese locale setup for which is teased after the blockbuster film's end credits
I saw it last night and I enjoyed it. I don't know the orgin stories so Im not one of those purists that are complaining about it. The theater had free Wolverine posters so I picked up two.
So I guessSpoilerDeadpoolwill be in the sequel.
Is Deadpool, Mutant 11?
Deadpool is Weapon 11, right?
"You are watching FOX"
it's supposed to be him, but Ryan Reynolds isn't listed as the actor who plays weapon 11. maybe this means something, maybe not...
I thought it was okay but would rather watch the current Wolverine and the X-Men animated series on Nicktoons.
The reviews of this film have been pretty underwhelming. I was soooo excited for this film until I saw the first trailer. The thing smacked of cheesiness and I lost interest. After being burned by X-Men 3 and then seeing the trailers and reading reviews of Wolverine, I'll probably wait until DVD.
I wish they'd bring Bryan Singer back and start where X2 left off and pretend X3 and Wolverine never happened. Wishful thinking, I know.
He is getting his own movie. It's out to writers now. There has been talk of a Deadpool film for several years now, usually with Ryan Reynolds the front runner to star. I think it just wasn't a well enough known character in the mainstream to get off the ground. Part of the reason for casting Reynolds in the role for Wolverine is the hope that he could be spun off into his own film, and that appears to be happening now.
That being said, there are at least half a dozen X-men related films that are supposedly in various stages of development, so it'll be interesting to see which ones actually get made.
