FREE "Up" Screening in Connecticut THIS Weekend

I was so excited when I read this -- before Cannes and three weeks before it even opens, there's a way to see "Up" THIS weekend without spending hundreds of dollars on a charity event. Here are the details. It says to arrive one hour before the screening, but I imagine it would be smart to get there SEVERAL hours early!!

It's about 3 hours away... tempting....
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I think it would be cheaper to buy tickets to get to this than to go to one of the charity benefit screenings they are doing! A couple of hundred bucks for plane or train tickets plus a cheap local hotel would make this a VERY doable event for me. Thanks for posting!

Charity benefits are typically tax deductible, your transportation and accommodations to try to attend a free event are typically not.

But it's $400 or so for the whole family to get there and stay the night, versus $250 per ticket, if there were even one I could get into!

Not knowing your location or feasibility of opportunities are of course factors.

As I wrote in another thread regarding the 5/28 D23 screening:

More than likely there will also be the standard advance screenings in the usual markets via local radio & TV stations, newspapers etc.
First D23 Event posted - 'Up' Screening At the El Capitan Theater (merged)

Those would be free and possibly in your area. Good luck!

Thank you for the info Tivoli. Too bad I don't live in Connecticut.

But I'm sure some of our East Coast MiceChatters will appreciate this!

You are so lucky to be able to see the movie 3 weeks early! I am hoping there are some local screenings in D.C. that I can score passes for. If anyone goes, please come back and report...although I have already read so many awesome reviews about this movie that hearing anymore will just makes me even more anxious!

We're in a hotel in Hartford for the night to see this tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be as crowded as I am worried it will be...

We'll let everyone know what happens tomorrow.

Trip Report/Review will be up in a day or 2, but I'll just say it's an amazing movie. A lot of comedy, adventure, and emotion. A VERY emotional movie that brings tears often. So sweet and wonderful that I can't wait to see it again in 3D!

Also, saw the teaser trailer for Toy Story 3! Will post more in the review in a few days!

Agreed.. I didn't want to see this movie, and now I'm not sure if I want to see t again because it was SO emotional... its' sooooo much more than the previews show. Loved it.

You just got me even more excited than ever with your comment! I have enjoyed all the clips so far and it is nice to hear that there is even more to come. Although I of course, don't like sobbing in a movie I think having a nice emotional storyline will be just fitting for this. I knew this was going to be a heartwarming story from beginning to end, you can just tell that by the trailers alone!
