Would be cool, but I'm doubting it. Dick Cook has said in interviews before that it is something they would like to do, but only if it can be done "right."
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
I don't see that it's that unlikely SOTS would be released in the USA...it was in the UK, and I've heard no fuss whatsoever about its release.
Well I wish it was that easy sadly it's not. While over in the UK and Europe they aren't as uptight about the fact that things from the past are not always so pleasent or politicaly correct. Here in the good ol' USA if the past isn't what you would like to hear, not PC enough or it offends a group of people. Well we either complain and sue or we get people together and revise what history is till it's sanitary enough so it's palatable to the masses. Sadly this wonderful story takes place in the post civil war south where the African American people where not much better off than pre civil war. Many people believe that the movie shows them as slaves so of course that is a no go cause it offends. To bad that Uncle Remus and the good morals that he teaches thru his stories will most likely be sanitized before the ever reair here in the US. Never mind the fact that Uncle Remus is a positive role model. I hope that one day it will be released here unchanged but I won't hold my breath. I like many US SOTS lovers will just have to watch my bootleg dvd.
Micechatter #5053 Looking for our new home in the WDW area! We need to get closer to our "Laughing Place"!
I own a legitimate Japanese Laser Disc, and have since the mid 1980's. Holding the title back keeps it controversial, if they just release it as a Disney Treasure (with or without PC apologies) it would be a lot harder to demonize
