What were your favourite movies of summer 2009?

Is it just me or did this summer go by fast?

It wasn't a jam-packed summer movie season as was 2008, but there was some good ones. What were your favourites?

    I still haven't seen a few like:
    Land of the Lost
    Night at the Museum 2
    Ice Age 3
    GI Joe
    Ponyo
    Inglorious Basterds

But I have to say my favourites were:

    Star Trek
    District 9
    The Hangover
    Bruno
    Up
    Harry Potter
    Angels and Demons
Public Enemies (it did have some flaws though)

Movies I still enjoyed, but could've been better:

    Wolverine
    Terminator: Salvation
    Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Here's a "By the Numbers" article on Yahoo:

District 9 gets my vote. If it doesn't win some kind of an award, it will be criminal.

Re: What were your favourite movies of summer 2009?

    5 Star Movies:
District 9 - hands down the movie of the summer. It was just amazing.
Up - Pixar does it yet again, just a great, great movie.
Star Trek - A perfect way to re-launch a series
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - After re-reading the book a couple of weeks ago, I'm sad with some of the things that were left out. That said, the "movie" was amazing.

    4 Star Movies:
Angels and Demons - Not anywhere as good as the book, but it was a great movie.
Funny People - I wish it had done better. It was really good.

    3 Star Movies:
The Proposal - A cute romantic comedy. Probably 3 1/2 stars really.

    2 Star Movies:
G-Force - The only reason this doesn't get 1 star was because I KNEW how bad it was going to be, and it met those expectations.
Land of the Lost - If I had seen this at the $2 theatre it would have been fine. But I didn't, so it sucked.

    1 Star (and below) Movies:
Transformers 2 - Just a big steaming pile of crap that not even robots kicking the crap out of each other could fix.

Movies that I didn't see that I would have liked to:
    The Hangover
    Terminator Salvation
    Wolverine
    Public Enemies
    Halloween 2
    Inglorious Basterds
    Year One

District 9, UP, and Star Trek were the best movies I saw all summer. I would have put Harry Potter there, but I felt it could have been done just a little better.

The worst was Transformers- why? Who allowed this to happend? Who said it would be good for Michael Bay's career?

I saw like 2 movies this summer, The Proposal and Time Traveler's Wife. I liked the latter a lot, but it wasn't as good as the book (which had me weeping and there were some really powerful scenes in the book that I'm sad they left out). I watched a lot of spring movies on DVD though.

My faves of the films I watched this summer are…

    Up
    (500) Days of Summer
    Star Trek

    and
    District 9

    Honorable mentions go to…
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - it was better than I expected but not as great as my faves of the summer
Coraline - I watched the Blu-ray over the summer and enjoyed it more than I expected to

I didn't get around to seeing any comedies, like The Hangover which my friends keep telling me is awesome, but that's not really surprising for me. I usually only go to the theatres to see the big tentpole flicks anyway. I'm also proud of the fact that I totally passed on Transformers 2.

Re: What were your favourite movies of summer 2009?

Being unemployed and the brother-in-law of the manager a local theatre i saw a lot of movies this summer, sometimes 3 a day. I will only mention the ones i liked.

The Hangover Hilarious, creative, somewhat different and it had Mike Tyson digging Phil Collins.
Star Trek I came into this kicking and screaming and left shocked and awed! It was great fun, stayed true to how Trek is character driven and Simon Pegg is the best Scotty since Doohan!
Public Enemies Somewhat historically inaccurate and seemed to make Dillenger more sympathetic, but had a great story and great cast that more then made up for it. Michael Mann did a great job!
I love You Beth Cooper I saw this because i had seen everything else, but was pleasantly surprised. Very funny and cute. A Well done teen rom com!
Harry Potter Saw the 12:01 showing with hardcore fans and we all loved it! Yeah they added somethings, subtracted others but hey if they did it by the book we probably still be in the theatre! The cast, as always, was amazing and the film was magical. Saw it 3 more times during the week!

Those were the ones that stuck out. I saw many, many more ( like District 9, wasn't impressed, The Proposal, pretty good not great, and of course the big blockbusters) but no movie ruined things more for me than G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. I want to file charges against the studio, director and writer for theft. Not of time or money, but my childhood! I openly wept at the end! That movie should be considered a crime pursued by the U.N.

    UP!
    Star Trek

Didn't see everything...didn't want to see everything. Wild horses with $1000 bills taped to their hindquarters couldn't have dragged me into GI Joe or Transformers.
