    Re: 'Transformers 3' 7/1/2011

It's going to happen, with or without Michael Bay, according to Hasbro & Paramount.

Around the time of filming in Chicago, it was mentioned that part 3 will be the end the Bay-Transformer saga, did we really believe that?
Will Transformers 4 Happen Without Michael Bay?

    Transformers 4

Even though director Michael Bay has declared that Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be his last turn at the helm of this mega-franchise, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has come forward to say that it won't be the last Transformers.

But Brian Goldner still holds out hope that Michael Bay will eventually change his mind and return to do Transfomers 4. Here is what Goldner had to say.

"I would say to you right now that I've so enjoyed working with Michael Bay. (He) has got this incredible visual sense for showing you things you've never seen before. Perhaps he'll change his mind, perhaps he won't, but I'd rather put out this movie first then cross that bridge at some point.

Brian Goldner also talked about his high hopes for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

"I really believe it is (the best film in the series), and the reason is because we've learned so many things as we've made [these films]. The fact is, there's a lot of story here...But we also understand the great spectacle of what 'Transformers' can be. It's a great marriage, but with greater meaning. The first trailer shows that the space race is a backdrop to something that had gone on in our past that nobody was aware of. In typical 'Transformers' fashion, it's all about more than meets the eye. That's the core of what 'Transformers' is: you can never judge a book by its cover. We're going to reveal to you, in much more of a thriller style than ever before, that idea of what's going on behind this whole 'Transformers' pre-history."

Brian Goldner says that Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a higher stakes storyline this time out, and that they won't make the same mistakes as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

"Dark of the Moon' has many meanings. It's clearly what we know from the teaser trailer, but it's also this idea that there's darkness, a real cataclysm that could occur here based on knowing the truth of what's happening. If everyone had understood why each Transformer was in the movie, people wouldn't have cared how many there were. But once they're just these robots without any real meaning of why they're there, it just became robot melee, and that's not as enjoyable as knowing something about each robot and their personality so that when they do fight, there are stakes to it. That's really what was missing. It wasn't that there were so many robots; there were so many robots that you didn't know."

Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes to theaters July 1st, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

PS For die-hard Transformer fans, here's something to wear for the grand opening for Transformers 3...
Hasbro 3D glasses ride on Transformers' fame

    by Philip Wong

3D glasses don’t seem 'More Than Meets the Eye, indeed.

It used to be that movie merchandise and memorabilia meant posters, clothing, and toys, but now we even have things like the Hasbro Transformers Cine-Mask 3D glasses.

Available in either Optimus Prime or Bumblebee versions, these kid-size 3D goggles cost $9.99 each and are supposedly compatible with most 3D cinemas featuring RealD 3D technology. Could this be the beginning of an era of funky 3D masks? Looks like Hasbro and Hollywood have just found a new cash cow to milk moviegoers.
The 3D mask will be available May 16, while Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes out on July 1.

    Re: 'Transformers 3' 7/1/2011

Robot prayers answered? Better installment? A poster from TFW2005 revealed the following information from Empire Magazine:
    Spoiler
No “dorky” humor (Bay: “We wanted to make the movie much more serious, more adult”).

When robots die, they’re really going to die and those deaths will be shown.

They’re not bringing people back [from the dead we assume].

The robots have been given more ‘weight’ in the story (Strong backstory and pathos).

Sentinel Prime is “A big brother and mentor to Optimus Prime.”

The Ferrari (Pictured HERE) is a ‘Decepticon who (Michael) Bay is ‘Dreadbox.’

New companions for Starscream, Shockwave and the rest will be included (Laser Beak).

“The scale on one of them is jaw-dropping” – “It will be ‘what the Hell was that thing?”

Apollo 11 ‘incident’ show in the teaser is government secret.

No army for this, Chicago is left up to the Autobots but some heroes sneak in through the back-door so to speak

The human gliders are used because they slip under the Decepticon radar – as do humans – so they’ll be the people who can hammer it to the Decepticons and create an opening for the Autobots.

    Re: 'Transformers 3' 7/1/2011

The latest and newest Transformers 3 trailer has been officially seen by those who saw the advance screenings of Sucker Punch recently. Further proving that Paramount will indeed release the trailer March 25th, the opening of Sucker Punch! The trailer reveals Sentinel Prime & more =)

    Trailer description...
    Spoiler
"Ok ok so I just got to see an advance screening of sucker punch at the theater that my uncle's manager of and every year I get to see advance screenings so today I saw sucker punch (and it's actually pretty good. I mean, the visuals are amazing but the story is good also) AND THEY SHOWED A NEW TRAILER FOR TRANSFORMERS 3!!!

I really wish I could watch it again because it all went by so quickly but basically it opens up with Sam looking for a job and Carly's like "oh I can help you with that something something" and then she see's Bumblebee and is like "is that your car?" and he's like "yeah" then I can't remember exactly what happens after that but it shows Simmons and he's talking about the moon trip and how there was top secret stuff about the ship that was there then Optimus is like "i believe I know what that is" then it shows the guys on the moon looking around SENTINEL PRIME wakes up and crashes out of where he was staying and the astonauts look at him then I can't remember exactly what but Prime says something about the decepticons looking for a new leader and then we see this giant ship in space where SHOCKWAVE is! Then Sam says something to Carly real quick; then is shows the autobots (bumblebee, red car, Ironhide, ratchet, optimus with trailer and I think even the twins were there!) then Lennox says something to Eps about how they have to keep their mission together or something like that AND THEN....it shows Sentinel prime (i guess with his firetruck mode since he was red) walk and hold his sword, the SUVs chasing I think the army guys, the WRECKERS drive and transform in front of SENTINEL then I think it shows Megatron (with a hood-thing on) point his gun at something, LAZERBEAK grabbing sam and taking off with him, some explosions, Bumblebee I thing protecting sam and carly from a giant explosion, then it shows Shockwave turn around and say SOMETHING damn I can't remember what though, then Optimus and Sentinel are back to back fighting random decepticons and then it shows the title! HOLY SH!T it was so awesome I wish I could see it again if I had known it was showing I would've recorded it for sure! but oh well and also this is 100% REAL I am not lying! honest!"

Check out some awesome new Transformer art work, all made from scrap metal from a Chinese man who calls himself 'Steel Legend' (best known for his scrap metal Megatron tank).

    PS
Michael Bay made a statement on his website (MB.com) and shot down the trailer description saying, "Guy is lying through his a**." Still no confirmation that Sucker Punch brings us a new trailer.

    Re: 'Transformers 3' 7/1/2011

A USA Today article asks the question "Can 3-D technology save the moviemaking business?" and one of the people they reached for comment was Transformers: Dark of the Moon director Michael Bay.
"The short answer is we did too much with technology that wasn't ready for prime time," says director Michael Bay, whose Transformers: Dark of the Moon was shot digitally, in 3-D and on traditional 35mm film.

"Studios are turning everything they can into 3-D without considering whether it should be done at all," he says. "We're already wearing the experience out. Look, there are simply some movies that shouldn't be shot in 3-D," he says. "It doesn't add anything."

But when it does, Bay is a 3-D booster. No stranger to eight-figure film budgets, Bay says that studios need to make the financial commitment to 3-D instead of doing clean-up work. "It's different, shooting in 3-D," Bay says. "You need more cameras. You need different sets. It needs to be a forethought. Right now, studios are treating it as an afterthought."

Directors also need convincing, Bay says. Several months before Avatar was released, Bay says, Cameron invited Bay to the Avatar set. Shot primarily with computer-generated backdrops, the set consisted of bare walls, green screens and rows of computers.

"I first thought, 'This is a fad. And a pain in the ***,' " Bay says. Then he began shooting the third Transformers film in 3-D, with a reported budget north of $200 million. "It isn't cheap, but it shouldn't be," Bay says. "What I love is you really can create new worlds. But you have to commit to it. Fans are right to be more skeptical of it now."

Cool news. Leonard Nimoy is doing the voice of Sentinel Prime. Those who are Transfomer buffs know Nimoy is in the Transfomer universe already, he was the voce of Galvatron in Transformers: The Movie.

Michael Bay Previews Transformers: Dark of the Moon!

Most people go to the gym to maintain their health. Others go to work out their frustrations after a long stressful day. MichaelBay? Sure, he likely goes for those reasons, but when it came to Transformers: Dark of the Moon - the third entry in the extremely lucrative franchise - he used his gym time to think about mass destruction, namely one particular moment in the story in which a building needed to be brought down.

"When I work with writers, it's about what I want to do and what I've never done. I came up with this scene, doing these dumb stomach crunches, I'm like 'this building scene, oh my God, that's what I want to do!' There was a reason why [our characters] had to go into this building and I figured out what I wanted to do to that building after. Anything you can imagine with Transformers makes it fun."

Bay speaks to ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype on this gorgeous day on the Paramount lot where he's prepared to show select members of the press an early peek at footage from his massive summer offering, which he is bringing to the screen in 3D. He clarifies that he aims to make amends for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the 2009 sequel that grossed nearly half a billion dollars domestically.

"You don't make that much money on a movie - it doesn't become the number one movie in America that year if people hated it," Bay says honestly. "Yes, it might have gone south on the direction, but we were under the gun. There was a terrible writers strike and it was a sh*t position to be in. We were under a tremendous amount of pressure. We had to write it real quick. A lot of people [on a third film] will check out and get a paycheck. I've been working every day for two years because I want to make up for the second one and I want to leave this franchise the best I can."

This time--with the aid of screenwriter Ehren Kruger--more time was allotted in script development on "Dark of the Moon," a "solid" eight months. Bay admits that it is difficult to tap into the innocence of the first film and the sense of awe it delivered. Audiences by now have grown desensitized to the giant robot spectacle. As Bay puts it, "The genie is out of the bottle."

"This one is a more mature storyline, definitely darker, more emotional in the end. You feel the stakes are higher because it takes place in an American city. You're not disconnected with Egypt and the pyramids. I'm very happy with the movie," he says, touching lightly on the story we can expect to see. "It's a small group and you follow them. There's no cavalry coming. I've said this with Ehren, we were talking about concept, we used the term 'BlackHawkDown.' We try to make the cavalry unable to come. And it's more fun to watch our heroes in this epic ending with just a small group. It makes it more intimate."

Bay is hesitant to call the film "bigger," but everything we witnessed moments later in the Paramount theater screams "huge" (although we do understand what Bay meant story-wise). Of the nearly 20 minutes of footage shown to us (with an extra five shown in 3D), it's clear Bay is taking the series to new heights in every respect.

Unfortunately, we're not allowed to go into details, but we will say, it's merciless.

The scope will immediately register with you when a new full-length trailer assaults your senses on April 28th and yes, you'll even get a glimpse of that aforementioned building that Bay creatively destroyed.

Robot-wise, he promises to delve deeper into their personalities. "This is a very involved robot story. I hate letting the cat out of the bag, but you just learn more about the hierarchy, what goes on a Cybertron. Leonard Nimoy plays a great role. I was scared to ask him, but he said, 'Sure, I'd be glad to be back.'" Bay accredits Kruger for pulling Sentinel Prime (Nimoy's role) into the story, but pushed for more details on the other Transformers fans can expect to see, the director clams up. "You notice we're not putting a lot of stuff out there." Don't expect the "twins" from "Revenge of the Fallen," that's for certain. "There are two small characters. They start off a bit goofy, but they have a huge comeback. One of them is a new character."

As for the human element, there are a number of new additions to the cast (John Malkovich and Ken Jeong chewed the scenery in some of the scenes we saw - and let's not forget Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Shia LaBeouf's latest, gorgeous co-star). And--as with the robot action--Bay is pushing the boundaries of what he has done. "We've got these wing suit guys. You see them on 60 Minutes jumping off the cliffs? I'm writing a scene for those guys," Bay laughs. For those wondering what he's talking about, you may have spotted the wing suits in a previously-released teaser trailer. "We have this great scene where they fly between these buildings. We had to block off a mile and a half of Chicago's streets and they jump off of the Sears Tower and fly between the buildings. That's unheard of.

Bay agrees "Dark of the Moon" will bring a sense of closure in regards to his stamp on the series. He believes, however, that there is going to be plenty of room to "reboot" it. "Not with Shia," he grins. "He's turning grumpy in his old age. You put him on a wire and he just turns into this evil monster."

Up next, the director says he would like to do Pain and Gain, a Pulp Fiction-like project, "a true story with these boneheads looking for the American dream. A lot of actors have gravitated to it over the years. It's something to shoot that would be fun and fast."

More coverage to come here at ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype! Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens July 1.
