Group protests turkeys at Disneyland - Around Disney : The Orange County Register
Disney officials may call them the “Happiest Turkeys on Earth.”
But one animal-rights group contends that the nationally pardoned turkeys are anything but that at Disneyland.
Farm Sanctuary, a farm-animal-protection group, sent Monday a petition to the White House, asking President Barack Obama to send the National Thanksgiving Turkeys to a shelter instead of Disneyland.
Following a presidential tradition since 1947, Obama will be presented Wednesday with turkeys to pardon so they won’t become Thanksgiving dinner. And since 2005, the pardoned turkeys have lived out their days at Disney parks — all but one year at Disneyland. One year, the turkeys went to Walt Disney World in Florida. They are called the “Happiest Turkeys on Earth.”
But Farm Sanctuary believes the turkeys would have better lives at a shelter that the group runs.
Yes, because they will be SO mistreated at Disneyland. The fact that past pardoned Turkey's have lived long lives at Disneyland should be enough.
