How much will Princess and the Frog make Opening weekend?

With Princess and the frog opening on december 11th, I thought I pose the question How much money do you think it will gross opening weekend. Princess and the frog has alot riding on it , with it being the first 2d animation film in years for disney. My guess is the 40-59 million range 55 million to be exact.. Im curios to read what others think...

It is only playing on two screens, since I believe New york and Los Angeles was considered a special engagement for thanksgiving week-weekend only to drum up word of mouth leading up to the national opening 3,000 + theatres on december 11th . I believe other disney animated films have done that as well Toy story comes to mind. In any event the poll is for the official weekend total of Dec 11th... It should be interesting to see what happens!! I really hope it does well..

But how much of the $1.1 million is due simply to the fact that it is being screened at the Walt Disney Studios? How much of that figure is due to the curiosity factor of being able to visit the studios?

Regardless I do agree that when it opens nationwide it will be somewhere in the $48 - 59 million range.

I can see Frog being #1 at the box office it's opening week.
Possibly gaining second spot after Avatar premieres. And will probably stay that way for the remainder of its theatrical run.

And as flynnibus said, it will probably have the financial venue of Up,if not higher!

Originally they had princess and the frog scheduled to open on christmas but the chipmunks sequel scared them off.

Disney kind of has to whore the product out to the max especially since film has been down so much this year and the future of 2d animation and the walt disney animation side of the house might depend on it.

Im also encouraged Fantastic mr fox got rave reviews but tanked at the Box office, It leads a clear path for Princess and the frog to remain strong all the way through the holidays... It will be pretty easy for princess to stay in second with princess and the frog christmas weekend however you have sherlock holmes and Alvin and the chipmunks to deal with.

Hmmm, I thought Enchanted would have done better than it did. Not a 2D cartoon, but it makes me a bit pessimistic.

I'll guess closer to $40 million opening, and I'm not even confident in that.

But, it is a return to classic Disney animation, and the first black princess could draw crowds. I'm hoping it does well, but we'll see.

Shucks , Was it because you were at the Miceage booth? Sorry to hear, I think you will like princess and the frog, its getting alot of positive press and I had a couple friends go the early shows in NY and they loved it
