So What About The World Series?

Everyone must know by now, that the World Series begins on Saturday in Chicago. The Chicago White Sox will play the Houston Astros at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. So do you care? Will you be watching?

You have two teams hungry for a World Series title. White Sox have a good team, with a bad history, loaded with scandal (1919 Black Sox Scandal). Can't believe thay still get a bad rap for something that happened so long ago. As Buck Weaver said at the end of "Eight Men Out". All those players are dead now. I even saw signs calling "White Sox Cheaters", during playoff broadcasts. I realize that fans can get ugly at times.

I usually watch the World Series myself. Usually when the playoffs begin, and my "Cubs" are out of it, I pick a team, and stick with it to the end, if they make it that far. This year I am delighted that our "other Chicago Baseball team has made it to the "Fall Classic".

Now don't tell me I can't be both a Cubs and Sox fan. My brother tried that for years. Chicago is a great city. It is so good to see it being represented this year. Yankees and Cardinals and Los Angeles, to name a few have had more than their fair share.

I apologize. This thread is coming off confrontational.

So are you going to watch the World Series? Do you care? Have you ever been to a World Series?

Baseball season still going strong at my place.

well, after the yankees were out I wanted the angels out...so I was rooting for the white sox. The white sox booted the angels ...I'm happy and I don't really care who wins the world series, but I'll most likely root for the white sox again...since I don't like texas....LOL...I'm not planning on watching it though, but you never know with me...

Now that the Angels are out of the running, I could care less about the world series.

Sad Re: So What About The World Series?

Well, now that the Cardinals are out , I'm still interested in who wins and I'll be rooting for the White Sox. It's not sour grapes against the Astros, but it's been so long since the Sox last won it. The Astros have never even been in the Series, so I feel that's reward enough for them this time.
Also, the Sox have a pitcher, Mark Buherle, from St. Louis, so that tips the edge to them also.
I'm also just glad to see two different teams in the WS(meaning not Yankees).

Re: So What About The World Series?

I'm actually excited for this series. I will most definately be watching!!!

I'm sad the Angels lost, but as a baseball fan I don't think you could have a more evenly matched W.S. than this. All of the history involved in this series helps too.

I really don't care who wins but I think I will pull for Houston since I have been there. Plus it's not fun to watch if you aren't rooting for somebody.

But, if the Sox win I won't be dissapointed either.

I'm rooting for the White Sox. They took my Angels out so I would like to see them win, knowing the best team in baseball this year beat us to win it all.

Answering your question about going to the World Series. I was fortunate to have gone to game 1 in Anaheim in 2002. It was fun. But the Angels lost that game. Oh well. I can say that I went though.

    Go White Sox!

I have to admit. I hope A.J. Pierzynski has a terrible series. He's a cheater.

I am a Cubs and Sox fan... OK, I'm more a cubs fan than a Sox fan but I'm soooo rooting for the Sox (and that the beat the Yankees only makes it better!).
I'll watch the series on and off as I usually do.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

White Sox strike first. White Sox homerun in first inning.

    Better get off the interrnet.

Astros just homered to tie the game at 1 to 1.

Check back later, to see whether I am happy or unhappy.

Jumped back on here to say:

Game one goes to the White Sox. No complete games this time. Relief pitching gets the job done. Bottom line, the Sox are up one game to zero. Fans go crazy in Chicago.

Can you say Podsednik? Can you say Konerko? Can you believe White Sox go to Houston, two games up on the Astros?

Chicago baseball team still playing in the month of October..

Believe it or not, it's true.

Two great games over the weekend, but it certainly wasn't without controversy.

That ball definately hit the bat of Jermain Dye.

Granted, Konerko and Podsednik had great hits.

What's up with Brad Lidge??? Two game losing home runs in two games. (St. Louis and now Chicago)
