Re: Golden Globe Nominations - Avatar leads the pack

I can see Cameron being nominated for a director award, he pulled together a technical extravaganza... but Best Drama? Doesn't make any sense. The film was really enjoyable, but the story itself was barely par and the character development was minimal. The experience was enjoyable, but so many other films should come ahead of it.

I've actually seen very little advertising for the film. If it wasn't for me actually putting in an effort to keep up with movie releases, I doubt I would have heard of it either. Now that I think about it, i don't think I've even seen a trailer for it.

You must not read many newspapers or magazines then cause advertising for Avatar has been very heavy for the last month or so. Same with TV. Many, Many ads for sponsers that are tied into Avatar showing scenes, whole 1/2 hour infomercials showing a lot of stuff and scenes from the movie. I actually have seen more on Avatar on TV than I have of Princess and Frog, and there is tons of that one as well that no one seems to be paying any attention too. Sad.

Not sure who this was directed to, but if me, I was referring to Up in the Air. Not Avatar.
