Aladdin has become a musical. Its not on Broadway, last time I checked, but it does exist. First of all, there is the show in DCA that will close. Also, they were performing it at Navy Pier in Chicago while I was there this summer. It may not be there anymore, but there was one, at least.
Personally, I would like for Disney to come up with an original musical.
Well I know it was in DCA, I was just thinking it could maybe one day go to Broadway in a more advanced form. Beauty and the Beast started out at Disneyland before going out to New York.
The Princess and the Frog would make a good one, you would probably have to be "shrunk" to frog size when they are turned into frogs though because it would really be hard to see two little green things walking around the stage when you are up in the back row of the second story balcony.
I would actually love to see an original Disney musical!
One: Hunchback was on the Berlin stage as "Der Glockner von Notre Dame" from 1999 to 2002, according to Wikipedia; and an American revival is a possibility.
Also, I sent a letter to Disney Theatrical about a Nightmare Before Christmas musical, and they replied saying that one was "in development," I remember. I don't know if that means a big production or making it available for, say, high schools and theater programs.
Really any of those Second Golden Age animated features would work.
(I've never visited Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Resort Paris, nor Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, so don't be fooled when I pretend to know what I'm talking about. [But I'm pretty good with the information, if I do say so myself. And you can hit me all you want with Walt Disney World.])
