This isn't huge news, but indicates that Rich Ross is still shaking things up at the studios. Oren Aviv, the Production Chief of the Walt Disney Studios has been shown the door. He has been with the company for about 18 years.
While the problems at the studio are hardly Aviv's fault, Ross is clearly stepping up his efforts to create his own new creative and marketing team at the studio. As far as I'm concerned, he couldn't act fast enough to sweep the former regime out the door and spur new creativity and projects at the studio.
Dragging out the restructuring will just force everyone remaining into a defensive position. Time for the studios to soar again. I'm anxious to see who the new creative big wigs at the studio will end up being and what their focus and agenda will be.
