Tim Burton to adapt 'Sleeping Beauty'

Tim Burton will be developing a live-action version of 'Sleepy Beauty' soon. Instead of being based on the Walt Disney classic fairy tale, this version of the story will be filmed from the point of view of Malificent herself.

Here is the original article: Burton to Try His Hand at ‘Sleeping Beauty’ The Spielster

He'll probably cast Depp as Maleficent lol! But seriously, I think it'd be a very intriguing idea. it's like Sleeping Beauty ala Wicked!

Feed the Birds. It's not just a song, it's a way of life.

it's funny, because he'll screw it up... it would look to cartoonish for a scary movie. it has to be scary

Why doesn't Tim Burton get some new ideas? Seriously, the last time he did that was...okay it was Corpse Bride, but still!

Hahaha, that totally sounds like Burton. I think this could actually be quite good. My jaw will go through the floor if Helena Bonham Carter doesn't get the lead, though.

And Corpse Bride had a NBC feel to it.
So (IMO) not even a new idea.

The man made great films (I really like him....but that was NBC, Edward Scissorhands etc).
The last few years I feel they haven't been that great (just my opinion)
Didn't think his adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was that great. Sure, more along the lines of the book, but not one of his best works (even though the sets were great)

I think this will be a good idea. This was reported a couple a weeks ago on the entertainment thread in the movies section and even then I thought it sounded cool. Cannot wait!

    It's about time.

    I gladly accept it!!

His take on Charlie and the Chocolate factory was sooooooo much more like the book (than the film). I like the fact that Tim Burton respects the original literature of the piece, and uses that for propelling the story.

My advice to all yee who object: You are jerks. Don't bother.

This is making me laugh. Here Micechatters are complaining because its not "Original", yet Disney took the concept of Sleeping Beauty from the fairy tale. As most of its classic movies. Give me a break. Sounds like a great idea to me, and its from a different perspective.

I never said not being orig. (and I must have missed other posts that mentioned no due to originality)
( i did say that corpse had an NBC feel, so it didn't feel total original)
I'm not sure of him taking Sleeping Beauty not b/c of originality
but b/c I haven't liked his last couple of films.
