Tim Burton to show Maleficent's side of the story...(merged threads)

AICN is running a piece that claims Tim Burton is considering developing a film that focuses on 'Sleeping Beauty' villainess Maleficent. Story says that this project moved to the forefront because the long-awaited 'Dark Shadows' feature with Johnny Depp is "stumbling", studio-speak for script and/or budget problems.

Sounds like he's doing his own version of 'Wicked'.
    Growing older is manditory
    Growing up is however, optional

OMG...that would be so AWESOME...I think it's fair to show the villian's side of the story..makes it for a good concept espically when it deals with someone as cool as Maleficent.

This is great! There was a set of children's books sold at Disneyland a few years ago about this. One side of the book was the story always heard, and then the other side of the book was the Villains' side of the story...very clever.

OH MY GOODNESS. I swear I had this idea last summer. I remember thinking that someone should write Maleficent's story as I sat on a lawnmower cutting my grandparents' grass.

She's such a fantastic character that it would be a no-brainer to continue her story.

Tim Burton's "Maleficent"does have a good ring to it.
Don't think of a gun as a weapon.
Think of it as a third arm that magically
    shoots bullets!

Ms. J. is correct of course! The book series has been around for a few years:

I just finished watching Sleeping Beauty and looked it up and saw this, it seems like a great idea and a good way to bring one of the best Disney villains back.

I'll have to wait and see how his "Alice" is, before making a decision on my initial thoughts on this. hmmmmmmmmmm, wonder how much of a "hero" he will turn maleficent into, and how he will re-invent the "Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather" characters.
