Today marked the formal opening of Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, a digital animation studio designed to produce movies and television programs for global audiences. Star Wars fans will become increasingly familiar with the studio in the near future, as it has already begun production on the next series of Star Wars television adventures.
"We're very excited about the opening of a new studio," said George Lucas. "Our first series -- a TV adventure titled Clone Wars, based on the time between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith -- is already in active development and we hope to see it on the air in 2007."...
The animation studio will focus on more than just Star Wars in the coming years. It will develop new animated entertainment for television and features, employing the latest in digital animation technology.

Why Singapore? With all the talent here in Hollywood, why open overseas? I'd have loved to have seen it open in Burbank!
