THis may sound weird coming from a Disney fan, but, does anyone have a complete list of all Dinsey animated movies? I've lost track of what's out there.
May I second this list? I love love these movies. Robin Hood is one of the most underrated Disney films followed by Sword in the Stone.

Re: What is THE ultimate Walt Disney Classic?

I would rate Snow White high on the list because
it encompasses so many 1st's. Walt achieved
near perfection with combining story, music, artwork,
and marketing with the very 1st animated feature film.

Fantasia would rank high on the list as well. It was
Walt attempting something completely new and different
and very much ahead of its time. Too bad, the public
wasn't as accepting at it's 1st release. I would have
love to see what Walt would have created, had
fantasia succeeded at 1st. No one know what brilliance
    the world could have known.

Those would be my top 2 picks, but personally, I
prefer to wear out Jungle Book with the wonderful
jazzy music, and the fun loving Baloo and the
Crazy King Louie! Next up on my list is 101 Dalmatians!

    For the more recent flicks:

Aladdin ~ Loved the music, couldn't get enough of this movie when it 1st came out, I have pretty much all the toys during it's initial release.
Nemo ~ Brilliant Colors, effects, story!
Emperors New Groove ~ great comedy moments, Bucky, Yzma, Kronk steal the show
Little Mermaid ~ fun carribean music, great story/great villain
Hercules ~ Hades is one of my all time favorite villains
Lion King ~ One of Disney's BEST.
Tarzan ~ Amazing Disney Take on a non disney classic. (with the exception of Rosies ape, blech)

Sleeping Beauty is really IT as far legendary status goes. I didn't like it as a kid when I was just interested in the colors, but years later the personality of the characters, good and bad, are just so brilliant. The characters may not feel as real as they do today and the score is outshined by Cinderella and Pinocchio, but the storytelling is the strongest part. You'd think a story as simple as it is would have a fairly brief script, but they managed to stretch it out to film length wonderfully.

Cinderella, no doubt. I have 4 copies of it Thank goodness for the DVD, finally. Now if they'd only quit making direct-to-video sequels.

For me, its Alice In Wonderland, she reminds me a lot of myself in so many ways and the story just stuck with me since child hood. I love the actual books and I honestly would love to see Disney do Through The Looking Glass

There are others that do what you mention but this is tops for me based on personal experience.

The ultimate Walt Disney Classic is "Sleeping Beauty".

It is followed by "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", "Pinocchio", and then "Cinderella". "Fantasia" is also high on the list.

"Beauty and the Beast" is certainly the ultimate film of the Disney Renaissance. But, over all, "Sleeping Beauty" is still the ultimate in Disney awe and wonder (and music too!).

I definatly agree here! Sleeping Beauty has it all! dragons, faries, evil sorceress, handsome prince, horrible spell... Everything! It's quintesential Disney.

Snow White is a classi not only because it was the first of it's kind, but also becaus it was so well edited. everything seams to tie in perfectly together in the end.

Beauty and the Beast is definatly a wonder from the Disney renesance, i agree, however i would add A Little Mermaid & Aladdin to the list as well. Aladdin is definatly the funniest of the films by far (thanks to the talents of my personal hero Robin Williams as the Genie), and Little Mermaid was the last Disney film completly hand drawn.

I guess in a way, all good Disney, or innovative disney films are classics.

Alice in Wonderland definitely. Nothing like taking a little trip to wonderland every now and again. Its cool, they know me there. Besides where else can ya go to see rabbit with a watch, a lizard with a ladder, and walking playing cards and feel weird about it...gotta love it....
