Don't go into "The Last Song" expecting to see "Hannah Montana"

The Last Song is not for small children. Parents might see Miley Cyrus and assume it's an innocent Hannah Montana movie. It is not, in any way. It's a very somber, emotionally powerful, and sometimes overbearing film. Children under 10 years old will probably not understand everything that happens. I just thought Micechatters, who might have kids who want to see the film because of Miley, should be made aware of the true nature of the film.

I'm not expecting to go into The Last Song AT ALL.

It's sad because it looks like a good movie, but I can't stand Miley so I'm not interested.

I would like to think that any parents on this site would be able to spot the PG rating for this particular film on the poster, online or even in print and be able to decifer the simple information the MPAA has assigned to this one to help decide their kid's entertainment choices.

I'd like to think that too, but from my experience it's not true at all. Or perhaps they can decipher it but still don't care.

Not too sure about that. A kid seems Miley Cyrus in a movie and asks their parents to see the movie. I hear Miley I assume it's for kids, I think it ws a fine warning in this thread.

Re: Don't go into "The Last Song" expecting to see "Hannah Montana"

When I saw it, there were a large group of small kids, 5 and younger, in the front row with their parents. By the halfway point, there were bored and running up and down the stairs, asking "When can we go home". Plus, Miley does not put on the Hannah character at all. I hate the Hannah Montana show with a passion, but The Last Song is very well done.

That's probably because she'd already done that in 'Hannah Montana The Movie'. In this new movie she appears to be playing a different character. The film's trailer and TV spots show quite clearly that she's not playing HM, the absence of the blonde wig should've been the big clue.
