Pixar's Lasseter to receive VES lifetime nod

John Lasseter has been chosen to receive the Visual Effects Society's highest honor. The Pixar Animation Studios founder and two-time Academy Award-winner has been selected by the VES board of directors to be recognized with the organization's Georges Melies Award for Artistic Excellence. "The VES is thrilled to have John Lasseter as its lifetime achievement honoree at the fourth annual Visual Effects Awards," VES executive director Eric Roth said. "His genius at creating films that captivate both children and adults alike with their humor, whimsy and intelligence is what makes him a true original. His influence in the field of visual effects is incalculable." (Sheigh Crabtree)
