I am intrigued to see how M. will work with this kind of material. It will either be a success, and a restart of his career, or it will be the final nail in his coffin.

I'm one of the faithful M. Night lovers... that includes The Village, LitW and The Happening. All just misunderstood genius, if you ask me. I don't expect this to be anything less of awesome.

I love M. Night too. I haven't seen every single one of his films, but I've liked all the ones I've seen.
I have high hopes that he can handle this movie.
I think the best thing is that he watched the original show and wanted to make the movie. He wasn't approached about it and watched the show afterward to see if he wanted to make the film.
No matter who was directing, that would be a huge plus for anyone in my book.

I always enjoyed the TV show, and followed it loyally. I am excited to see the movie, finally.

    Comes out this Thursday!
I wanted to go to a midnight showing, but the only one close to me is in 3D and I want to see it in 2D first so first matinee it is!
I'm really, really excited for this movie. I don't think(I know)I've never been "actively" waiting this long for a movie to come out.
    It's gonna be great! ^_^

Re: The Last Airbender (July 2, 2010)

I was interested in this film, until I read Rotten Tomatoes this morning. There's no consensus yet, but... the current 8 reviewers did not like it, including Roger Ebert.

I read Roger's review at the Chicago Sun-Times, and he pretty much despised it. Roger is a huge fan of both the original series and anime in general, and made some very good points as to why M. Night was wrong in attempting to take this story out of animation and into live action. If you're a fan of Roger Ebert, definitely check out his review.

I predict that this film won't get above 10% or 15% on RT. But given the popularity of the TV series, it might do well at the box, before Despicable Me opens one week from Friday (July 9). I'll wait for it on video.

I'm so not going to support this. I don't remember the last time I wanted a movie to crash and burn so hard before.

    Oh yah... DragonballZ movie.

This property deserves better than what M. Night is capable of.

Rotten tomatoes has it at 9%. Ebert gave it a half star. Yeah, I think I will skip this one and watch the animated series instead.

Having not seen the animated series, and from the YouTube clip, I'm going to have to say No on this.

I am so sad that from what I've heard it won't live up to its huge potential. I loved this show!
