Doug Liman will direct Jumper, an adaptation of the Steven Gold novel that New Regency is fully financing. Variety says the company is planning an adventure trilogy about a teenager who discovers he can teleport from one place to another.

Fight Club screenwriter Jim Uhls will rewrite a script by David Goyer; production will begin in spring.

The 17-year-old protagonist first learns that he can "jump" when he escapes his abusive father.

The film will be produced by Lucas Foster and Simon Kinberg, the producer and writer of the Liman-directed Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

New Regency is bringing back many of the production and special effects staffs from that film.
