    Mortal Kombat: Rebirth

Still unknown if this is just a viral marketing ploy for a video game or to make Hollywood have interests in a very fun franchise that's a need a revival but who remembers this video short when it launched back on 8th of June. Directed by Kevin Tancharoen, takes Mortal Kombat on a whole new level, and

defiantly begs for a full length feature film to be made, no?

    Re: Mortal Kombat: Rebirth

(off note: mods, is it ok to show this video?)
I think, if they have to follow the short like this, I think the film would get an R rating or an almost modest PG-13 rating. I hope the film does not go far from it's source material, like Capcom did with Chun-Li.

    UPDATE
Jeri Ryan Talks 'Mortal Kombat: Rebirth'

by Carl Lyon, Today 10:50 AM PDT
Remember that bizarre trailer we showed you last year for a realistic, gritty take on Mortal Kombat? The one where Reptile had Harlequin-type icthyosis and Jax was played by Black Dynamite himself, Michael Jai White? Well, director Kevin Tancharoen is working on a web series to flesh out his fresh take on the franchise, and actress Jeri Ryan has sounded off on the experience. Video after the break.

G4 got to talk to the Star Trek alum regarding her take on Mortal Kombat mainstay Sonya Blade, and it looks like the treatment of Blade will fall right in line with the rest of the gritty reimagining. There are no "kiss of death" fatalities, and Jeri's blood-and-dirt caked look during the interview pretty much confirms that ***** will be kicked and names will be taken.

Also amusing are Ryan's tales of the set of the Mortal Kombat: Rebirth web series being literally haunted, as well as confirmation that she will be taking on series veteran Kano at some point.
No official word on when Mortal Kombat: Rebirth will be released, but right around the April 19th release date of the Mortal Kombat game seems like a pretty safe bet. Keep your eye on FEARnet for our take on the series when it's released.
Head to the source link to watch a special behind the scenes...
