Should be hearing a lot electronic stuff this week since it's that time of year over in Las Vegas while the electronic & porn conventions (International Consumer Electronics Show & Adult Entertainment Expo) are happening in Vegas. Revealing, and announcing all the new toys that's coming for 2011 & 2012. Funny how the two are happening together, huh? Well not really (give credit) to porn, which did a lot for VHS, and electronics future, anyway... 20th Century Fox announced this news in Las Vegas

THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE THE MOST ANTICIPATED BLU-RAY RELEASE IN THE GALAXY IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR WORLDWIDE PRE-ORDER STARTING TODAY
LAS VEGAS (Jan. 6, 2011) – The most anticipated Blu-ray release ever – the Star Wars™ Saga – emerges from light speed this September 2011. For the first time, all six of George Lucas’ epic films (Episodes I-VI) are united in one complete set. Fans worldwide are able to pre-order now with online retailers.

STAR WARS: THE COMPLETE SAGA ON BLU-RAY will feature all six live-action Star Wars feature films utilizing the highest possible picture and audio presentation, along with three additional discs and more than 30 hours of extensive special features including never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes, an exploration of the exclusive Star Wars archives, and much more.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga on Blu-ray will be available for $139.99 US/$179.99 CAN and the Star Wars: Trilogy Sets for $69.99 US/89.99 CAN. Pricing for each set will vary by international territory.
Flanked by a legion of his finest Imperial Stormtroopers, Darth Vader himself joined Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment President Mike Dunn at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the release, vowing “The forces of the Empire will be at your disposal to assure the success of this endeavor.”

“The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-ray collection since the launch of the high-def format,” Dunn said. “The epic franchise pioneered sound and visual presentation in theaters and is perfectly suited to do it again in the home, with a viewing experience only possible with Blu-ray.”

“With all six episodes available for the first time in one collection, this is a great way for families and home audiences to experience the complete Saga from start to finish,” said Doug Yates, Vice President of Marketing, Online, Distribution, Lucasfilm Ltd. “And with the quality of high-definition, Blu-ray provides the most immersive home experience possible.”

“The Star Wars franchise has been one of the most anticipated Blu-ray releases by Amazon’s customers,” said Bill Carr, Vice President of Music and Video at Amazon. “We think that Star Wars will be incredibly popular with our customers, and we expect pre-orders to be very strong.”

PS Star Wars Miniland is coming to Legoland in San Diego, CA set to open this March.

    "Moooooo..."

Is he gonna tweak some scenes again?

I'm sure all of you are buying it for the Luke building his lightsaber scene in Jedi.

I actually HOPE he tweaks it. Yoda in Ep1 is HORRIBLE, even if it were a standard puppet. It was just way off model. What were they THINKING?!

Jabba in Ep4 STILL looks fake. How about getting his voice more accurate too?

Or better yet... get rid of the stuff that still doesn't fly 13 years after the fact. (greedo shooting first?, darth vader's original Empire Strikes Back dialogue "Bring my Shuttle"needs to return, or that awful CG mess in Jabba's Palace called "Jedi Rocks".)

Any chance that a remastered copy of the original theatrical releases will be included?

I might buy this. I have two pre-Special Edition copies of the original trilogy on VHS, but nothing else and no VCR.

90 bucks is not soo bad...anything over 100 bucks for some movies I think its too much considering he has sold 5 types of VHS and 2 DVD types PLUS how many times the movies have been in theaters....I mean he has made his money off the movies already.

He made his money off merchandising long before he saw the returns on the movies. Merchandise income is what mostly funded Industrial Light & Magic, his Skywalker Ranch, and income from Star Wars funded Empire Strikes Back.

I guess this also goes for The Star Wars Holiday Special.

The Ewok movies should get a Blu-Ray treatment.

Re: Star Wars 1-6 for Blu-Ray

Now that both Episode IV and V have been added to the National Film Registry and are marked for preservation, I think it would be apropos that Lucas make a least a token effort at placating those of us who want anamorphic 16:9 versions of the original trilogy's original theatrical cuts by giving us what we want, just to shut us up at long last. Whether true or not, I understand that the actual negatives of the original cuts have been forever altered, but a digitally restored version of the original edits is at least possible, so Lucas should just do it.

The deleted and alternate scenes listed above - well, that's cute, I'm sure we'll enjoy those too, whatever they may be, whether they're of significance or not.

But unless this release includes 16:9 remastered new transfers of the original theatrical cuts of the OT, I'm just not going to be in that much of a rush to get this one.

As far as whether I'd get all six together or separately, I dunno. All together I suppose. I liked the prequels well enough. Not as much as I loved the OT, but then again I saw them when I was an adult, not a teenager (and as it was, I wasn't really all THAT satisfied with ROTJ, even back in the day). But as a full six movies, the epic story plays fairly well.
