Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

I'm very excited for this. I'm doing the double-duty or back-to-back thing at the local theater. I didn't have enough time to see all eight in the theater, but my wife and I will watch the last two movies, back-to-back, the evening of the 14th and at midnight on the 15th, in 3D. Anyone else doing that? (Or anyone doing the whole shebang over next week, in the theaters at least?)

Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Meh. I've seen the movies already. Have the DVD's. This weekend will be a Harry Potter weekend on ABC Family, and I get that in HD. And they'll probably be showing and discussing the new movie during the commercial breaks.

I'm currently rereading a chapter a day or so of Deathly Hallows. Thinking to myself, "Can I find one more thing that I didn't read before?"
(Knowing full well that the movie will not cover everything in the book.)

I still have to get tickets. Wondering when a good time to go will be.

Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

I watched the London premiere's red carpet for 3 hours this morning and was a wreck by the time it was over! The announcer guy said he had not read the book and he was blown away by the revelations that were revealed in Part 2, and then Dan Radcliffe said he thinks this is by far the best movie of the bunch. I have high hopes!

We are doing Part 1/Part 2 back-to-back at 9 and 12. I'll probably revisit the book in the next week and maybe catch some of the other movies at home beforehand.

Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

I haven't thought about rereading any of the book in preparation for this movie. I think that the plot is pretty fresh in my mind. I must admit to having read the last book three times. I liked it better after each read.

One more week, and then Harry Potter will be in the theatres in Chicago. I hope to be able to go the first day, or at least the first weekend.

I've looked at the book in the book case at least a dozen times over the past few weeks, each time meaning to grab it to start reading it again. Didn't do it, and now I think I'll just wait and re-read the entire series after the movie comes out.

Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

I don't want to reread the book before the movie because it will just cause distractions and disappointments on where things differ/left out, etc. I'd rather enjoy the movie for what it is, and then go back and compare the book to the movie after I've enjoyed the movie for itself.

The movies only really stayed true to the books early in the series, and since then have shuffled stuff quite a bit. I'd rather enjoy the movie as a movie before playing book critic

I love the series for bringing such a fun universe to life. It's done that so much better then say the Narnia movies did, etc.

Re: Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2

When I watched the Deathly Hallows Part Two UK Premiere, I was a MESS. I was crying like a baby. More so at the very end ( whoever watched, knows exactly what I'm talking about).

I can't wait for the midnight showing, it can't come soon enough, but at the same time, I'm so sad it's ending. But I literally cannot wait. I've heard such amazing things about it. I really look forward to the beauty, the sadness, the adventure, the butt-kicking, and the closure of such a long, brutal, lovely, incredible, and utterly breathtaking tale. Oh how I love Harry Potter. Hahaha. I'm such a Sap. but really, I loved the books so much, and then when the movies were made, I loved those so much. It's been a HUGE chunk of time.

I must say I've heard absolutely brilliant things about Alan Rickman's heartbreaking performance as Snape, so outside of Mrs. Weasley vs Bellatrix, I have to say I'm most excited to see Alan Rickman's performance. Ohhhhhhh the tears are going to pour and pour and pour.

Oh, and I usually go as Luna Lovegood. Because she is so fun. It's been 90 degrees at 12am here recently though. So the full dress robes and entire outfit, in a packed theater just doesn't seem AS appealing. But it's the LAST movie. I'll either go as Luna or an awesome Gryffindor student.

    WOOOO DEATHLY HALLOWS PART TWO!!!
