Notes:
- Funnyman Jason Segel (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) stars in, co-writes and executive produces “The Muppets.”
- The Muppets” is directed by James Bobin, who was a director/writer/EP for HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords.”
- Kermit received a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002. His song “The Rainbow Connection” was nominated for an Academy AwardŽ.
- Bret McKenzie, who starred in, wrote for and served as composer for HBO’s “Flight of the Conchords,” is the music supervisor for “The Muppets,” as well as the writer/producer on some of the songs, which include big Muppet-style opening and closing numbers.
- It’s been 11 years since the Muppets’ last big-screen feature film.
Well folks, what do you think? Sound like a good reboot for the Muppets franchise? Would love to hear your thoughts.
To me, it sounds like a fun romp and any excuse to have the Muppets get the old act back together is welcome news indeed.
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
I'm really looking forward to this one. It seems much more akin to the first, great Muppet movies as opposed to the characters playing someone else.
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
Thanks Dusty for giving us this info. I too look forward into going to see this Muppets Movie. Good to know that it's coming late this year. I also will add that it's on my mother's birthday too. Perfect way to remember it. :D
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
I have been ecstatic since I first heard that they were planning on making a new one. When I went to the midnight showing of Pirates last night, they showed a trailer of it. It didn't show the Muppets very much but it was the first trailer I'd seen. I'm extremely looking forward to this movie.

What foolishness would you like to see?
Muppet foolishness!
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
What geeks me out is Jason Segel is a HUGE Muppet fan. He flat out said in a KTLA interview this was his dream (along with some weird stuff he used to do on dates with puppets). So that gets me excited for this. You want someone who "gets" the Muppets to do the movie.
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
I think that if the jokes are as funny as the attraction then it will be a full film....i like the muppets but there last few movies were not there best....I'm hoping this is there come back
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
Probably the one film I'm most looking forward to all year. It may be blasphemous to say here on MC, but I'm actually a much bigger fan of all things Henson than I am of all things Disney. Sadly, their adventures during the last decade or two since Jim's death (not to mention the deaths or retirements of other key members of the team) have not lived up to their legacy. Somewhere along the way what made the Muppets so magical got lost. That magic comes from the fact that there's something for everyone in Henson's creations, from small children to adults. Even now, as I watch my DVDs of the classic films and television shows Henson made in the 70's & 80's there are really amazing moments that blow me away.
From everything I has seen and heard, including reports from a friend that actually met him, Jason Segel is as big or bigger a fan than I am. As a fan of his in general, and knowing how much he loves these characters I have the utmost faith that he's bringing some of the magic back the the Muppets, and I hope that it's only the beginning of a resurgence for them.
Re: New Information on the Upcoming Muppets Film
Other than Harry Potter, this is my most anticipated movie of the year.
Didn't want to ruin the joke (like D23 did), but a GREAT viral marketing campaign ...

New Trailer ... can we start talking about this movie instead of that other movie that's been out for a month now?
