Favorite Holiday movies and TV Specials

I'm actually surprised nobody posted this yet.

I think it's that time of the year. Time for hot cocoa, logs on fires and our favorite holiday movies and shows.

So what are some of your favorites?

    Movies:

A Christmas Story - I love everything about this movie. It's just so great in every way. It's like the Christmas season I would have liked when I was a kid but never got.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - Is there any movie (Christmas or not) that is as funny as this? I think not. Back in the day when Chevy Chase was actually funny. As a Dad this is the Christmas I want now ... well, except for the fumes, the cat flames, the membership in the Jelly Club, etc.

White Christmas - The quintessential Christmas classic. Rosemary, Bing and Danny can tap across my TV screen anytime.

Love Actually - While not "Technically" a Christmas movie it's in the holiday season and is such a great movie.

Nightmare before Christmas - Watched this today. So great in every way.

    TV Specials:

The Grinch who stole Christmas - We had to get this on DVD it's so good.

A Charlie Brown Christmas - Reminds me of the tree we got for Amanda's first Christmas. Yes ... we were that Po'.

Rudolph - Yes it's corny, yes the elf is a gay dentist but it's still great.

    Muppet Family Christmas!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I love Christmas Story. We watch it every Thanksgiving to get us in the mood for christmas. I know one of the cable channels runs it 24hrs on christmas eve, and I love it, I watch it all night while wrapping presents and such.

I also love Its a wonderful life. And I have my kids totally hooked on all the Charlie Brown Holiday (christmas one is on tues 12/6) and The Grinch the cartoon and the movie.

What about Nightmare Before Christmas? That is the only film where we can see Oogie Claws come out and play.

Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too! I think it's funny how Pooh keeps sugesting honey as what the others should ask for on their Chrsitmas wish lists.

I also love the Garfield Christmas special where the grandma gets the old love letters from Grandpa. It always makes me cry.

The Muppet Christmas (where they go to Fozzie's Grandma's place) was great, but they never play it up here anymore.
