Anybody else notice this?

In the holiday '05 issue of the Disney shopping catalogue, I noticed something a little unnerving printed directly underneath the Auctioneer Big Fig picture (which I circled in red for you in the pic).

In case it's a little hard to read in the pic, the warning label says:

"WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm."

Should I be worried to have this thing in my house, or, from what I'm guessing is really the case here, you'd have to actually try to lick and eat the thing before it causes any harm?

Because of many California Laws they have to display this card. There could be something like lead inside the paint on the art piece or item that you purchase, or a material they use to make them.

Everything they sell at the Parks now has that warning, no big deal! Everywhere you go now, we have to be warned that the item has health hazards that go along with it. Prop 65!

The amounts in a single figure are so small it would take a really large amount of the chemical to have any effect. If you go to a china section of a Macy's or dept store they have the same thing. As Wolffy said Prop 65.

And remember, in other states, this same product is perfectly safe! So it all depends on where you live. It's a big joke at work that if you buy these particular dishes (or whatever) in Arizona, then you'll be fine.

Do not lick your big figs. I think that's just a good rule anyhow.

Most likely it's lead in the paint. Not harmful as long as it's not injested, but thanks to all the lawsuits and Prop 65(?) it's now required.

If you don't have small kids or dogs, then I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't mind the label. But it would nice if they told you exactly what they're talking about

It has an * which is for the lamp not the figure, so it's got to be lead.

All of the new holiday lights & lighted decor have that same warning on them too; there was a big thing on the local news here the other night about it. It's exactly as stated...the lead warning from Prop 65. Just wash your hands after handling and don't snack on them.

It looks like the warning is actually for the lamp, not the auctioneer (note that it's starred, and there is a star/asterisk in the description for the SB Castle lamp.

The stained glass lamp is safe to have in your house provided that you don't have kids who like to lick the lamp...

isn't the stained glass part made from eladed glass?.....if so it would require a warning. I think lead is more dangerous to small children, but I could be wrong....
