Talking Donald Duck and the University of Oregon

I am not sure if all of you know this, but Donald is the mascot of the University of Oregon (www.GoDucks.com)

Has anyone ever seen a game? I would love to see him but I don't live near Oregon. I wonder if he does away games, too.

He was the only mascot that was ever allowed into Disneyland! Go ducks!!! I have never seen him at an away game. By the way it is not really Donald..just a close relative hehe.

We went to three home football games this season, including the USC/UO game and the Civil War game (UO/OSU), which were huge games.

The UO Donald is not the Disneyland Donald Duck...he's kinda dirty and cheap looking compared to the real deal. But it is fun to see him do push-ups everytime Oregon scores!

On all the Oregon merchandise that has the duck on it, there is the Disney logo on the bottom. That's pretty cool to me.

Thanks for the info guys! I also got an email saying that "The Duck" goes to most away games. I might catch him next year when they play USC.

Can someone post a picture of this duck? I clicked on the link and did not see any duck mascot.

When you click on the link, type in mascot in the search for box. There are lots of pics there.

Probably the same way that the not-Disney-made "Donald Duck Orange Juice" came about, and I'm not entirely sure on that one, either. Was Walt really desperate to sell out for a dime at some point or something?

My boyfriend was telling me about this while we were at the Kings/Ducks game this past Friday. I thought it was very interesting! I wondered what the terms of licensing were for the Ducks mascot after the team was sold. I assume that Disney doesn't get a royalty from Oregon's use of Donald?

I played in the Cal Band (University of California Berkeley) from 1986-1990. During that time, we would see the Donald Duck mascot at away games, and he even made one appearance at a basketball game in Berkeley. However, before that basketball game, I remember the Duck getting a little risque in front of the Cal student section. I'm not sure if Disney would appreciate their Duck acting that way.
"JESUS!!! That's Cold!" -- Walt Disney's final words.

"You hear people talk about, 'I don't think Walt would like this,' or 'I don't think Walt would like that.' You have no idea what Walt would want! No clue whatsoever! Because the people that worked with him day in and day out didn't know what Walt wanted. Walt didn't know what he wanted 'til he wanted it."
