I don't care much for female singers. The few I like are pretty much from the 80's (Debby Harry, Dale Bozio, Pat Benetar), with the exception of Gwen Stefani.
For me a singer doesn't have to sing great... there has to be something in their voice that captures me. I've hear great singers who do absolutely nothing for me and then not perfect singers who just reel me in.
Anyhow, my faves have to be:
There are quite a few people with great voices. It does, however, depend on the style. Love Frank and Harry Connick Jr.. But I love Bono too. Different styles but neither can do justice to the other in the music genres.
As for female singer....Annie Lennox!

I always cringe when I see "Who is the best..." questions when it comes to the arts. It implies a competition and there are too many wonderful vocalists, musicians, artists, etc. to ever pick a best of anything.
