    Cool Narnia vs. Kong.....Round 3

    Weekend Estimates (Friday-Monday)
    BoxOfficeMojo
    1) Narnia-$34.3m-$226.2m
    2) Kong-$33.5m-$176.6m
    BoxOfficeGuru
    1) Narnia-$35m-$228m
    2) Kong-$30m-$175m
    BoxOfficeReport
    1) Narnia-$37m-$228.7m
    2) Kong-$35m-$177.3m
    BoxOfficeProphets (Friday-Sunday)
    1) Narnia-$26m-$218.6m
    2) Kong-$24.9m-$167.6m

    (title-weekend gross-total gross)

Depending on how Narnia holds up in January, it can finish with anywhere from $250-$300m. Also, Narnia can very well get the title of Best Fourth Weekend if it gets more than $28m from Friday-Sunday (currently held by Titanic).

This is great, Narnia is a very good movie. It's been running longer than Kong, but is still holding stronger.

    Fridays Box Office Numbers
    Narnia: $9.5m
    Kong: $8.6m

    Revised Estimates
    BoxOfficeProphets (3-day)
    Narnia....old)$26m new)$23.9m

With the wacky holiday placement this weekend, anything can happen (and knowing the box office...it will). However, everyone should be glad to know that Narnia officially passed the $200m mark yesterday.

What was the projects budget? Did they already surpass it?

Narnia cost about $180m to make. Usually, if a film can double that at the B.O. it'll have returned a profit (so Narnia has to make about $360m). Worldwide, it has made about $330m so far. So yes, it has already surpassed it's budget (and by the end of monday it will have doubled it's budget).

Love your wild 2006 shades, Mike. You're putting Elton John to shame. Happy New Year, dude!

At the rate Narnia is moving along, it will likely tripple it's cost faster than you can blink. Great special effects, and an unusually altruistic, deep and uplifting story line.

    Saturday's Box Office Estimates
    1) Narnia - $7.7m - $209.7m
    2) Kong - $7.0m - $158.3m

Also, worldwide Narnia has made $365.8m so far (so it has doubled it's budget, labeling it a profit).
