    Ebert & Roeper's Worst movies of '05

    Where's Be Cool?!

This year's selections indicate there were plenty of bad movies from which to choose, as just two films -- "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" and "Dukes of Hazzard" -- made both of the critics' individual Top 10 lists.
Roger Ebert's Worst Movies of 2005:
    1. "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo"
    2. "Dukes of Hazzard"
    3. "Dirty Love"
    4. "D.E.B.S."
    5. "Son of the Mask"
    6. "Doom"
    7. "Constantine"
    8. "Undead"
    9. "Elektra"
    10. "Fantastic Four"

Richard Roeper's Worst Movies of 2005:
    1. "Dukes of Hazzard"
    2. "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo"
    3. "Monster in Law"
    4. "The Longest Yard"
    5. "Stealth"
    6. "Miss Congeniality 2"
    7. "The Man"
    8. "Guess Who"
    9. "Bewitched"
    10. "The Legend of Zorro"

Roger Ebert is film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago's WLS-TV, and the author of 18 books, including "The Great Movies," "The Great Movies II," "Roger Ebert's Movie Yearbook series," "I Hated, Hated, HATED This Movie," the Norton anthology "Roger Ebert's Book of Film," and the best-selling "Ebert's Bigger Little Movie Glossary."
Richard Roeper is a columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. His latest book, "Schlock Value: Hollywood at its Worst," will be released in paperback next month. He is also the author of "10 Sure Signs a Movie Character is Doomed and Other Surprising Movie Lists," "He Rents, She Rents," "Urban Legends," and its sequel, "Hollywood Urban Legends."

7- I actually like this movie visually- the story could have been better but I don't think it was that bad.
    8. This is a goofy movie that might develop a humorous cult fan base- not to be taken seriously- one of my daughters favorite zombie movies. It's funny!
    10. I loved this movie- what is their problem?
    6. Cute, not great, but not horrible.
    8. I laughed myself silly on Guess Who-

Hmmm, where is their "Best" list?

wow-and on that list I only agree on one of them....(though thanks for the link)

Whatever- just further proof that critics should be listened to with a grain of salt.

I have only seen ONE of those moveis!! And it is Guess Who- which was cute I thought. Certainly not award winning filmaking, but cute.

I haven't seen any of those films on either list and barely remember most of them and probably will never see any of them.

There's a better version of that movie, and this one bastardizes it.

No one is stopping you from having fun at the movies.

I hardly ever go to the movies anymore, but when I do, it had better be better than anything else I could be doing with my money and my time.

That usually means it has to be better entertainment than what I can see on TV, since the cable is already paid for.

And, since it's a lot of money, I have to be moved (emotionally) in ways I've never been moved before. Make me laugh at something original, cry at something original, think about something original.

^ I'm not saying I want to see the same thing over and over again ... but I think that people get so involved in the so-called "important" movies that movies that happen to be fun, yet also good get over-looked.

Batman Begins comes to mind. GREAT movie, Top-10 Caliber IMO, yet because it's a Comic Book movie and it's action it won't ever be considered.

Also, looking at Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers or Mr. and Mrs. Smith or Steve Carrell in 40 year old Virgin ... GREAT performances, but because they are in comedies they don't get a second look.

    That's what I'm talking about.

OK, now you have made me curious... What would YOU say were some (or even just one) of the worst movies of 2005?

Zorro is a movie, that I'm sure is good to the targeted audience. I, however, have no interest in seeing any of the movies....I enjoyed the TV show when I watched it. But the movies don't interest me at all.
    What an idiot....

I saw most of the movies on their worst list and agree with them on most of them. There are a few that I would consider just ok, not great rather thatn the worst. I liked Fanastic 4.

But it's all subjective. I usually like movies that the critics hate. It boils down to tastes and interests. Pure and simple.
